Subject: RE: Look what I get to wear this summer....riorio - 2010-07-08 2:52 PM Stress fracture I didnt know I had one because my insurance wouldnt cover an MRI until I had done 8 weeks of "conservative treatment". So, I walked about on it, ran a few times and generally didnt take care of it because I thought it was a tendon issue. I also ended up with an entrapped nerve (due to inflammation around the bones) which causes numbness and tingling in my foot. It is healing but the potential is there to make it worse. It was a hard call, part of me wanted to say screw it but I thought about it and realized it still hurts a bit and my foot continues to go numb, so there is no way I was going to be able to start the 20 week IM training program. I'm hoping someone comes up with a really great 4 week IM training plan that I can start in mid-October YES! they did that to me when I tore my ACL. Doctor (who is now training for IMCdA ) tells me "it feels like a torn ACL in your left knee. You'll have to ice it for 8 weeks". I reply "can icing a torn ACL do anything?" He said "It will get you an MRI" Dumb dumb dumb. It could be worse, though. There are Canadians on this website who have no ACL and a torn mensicus with no hope of sugery. Aquagirl just paid out of pocket $550 for an MRI and she still has to wait years on a list to pay out of pocket for surgery. And her husband is a doctor. |
