Sunny
Total Time = 1h 30m 33s
Overall Rank = 88/216
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 10/22
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 6:00. Had a MetRx shake and banana. Drank 16 oz. Cytomax leading up to race time.
Event warmup:

Some light stretching, spent about 10 mins. in the water getting used to the temperature and warming up.

Need to also do some running next time.
Swim
  • 15m
  • 700 yards
  • 02m 08s / 100 yards
Comments:

Best swim so far. Getting into the water and warming up before race made a big difference with my breathing. Considering that I did very little swimming the last month I was very happy with my swim. I even passed two who started in the elite group 5 mins. before my group!
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Try to get more swim time before next race.
Transition 1
  • 03m 44s
Comments:

Had a lot of trouble getting my wetsuit off (stuck on wrists and ankles). After talking to some other people (Thanks Chris and Jen!) I'll try PAM next race.
What would you do differently?:

Work on getting my wetsuit off quicker!
Bike
  • 45m 52s
  • 14.6 miles
  • 19.10 mile/hr
Comments:

I liked the loop course, had more of a race feel to it.
What would you do differently?:

Probably could have pushed it a little harder, saved a little to much for the run.
Transition 2
  • 00m 39s
What would you do differently?:

Practice getting bike shoes off faster.
Run
  • 25m 19s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

It took me about 1.5 miles to get my legs back, my last mile was my fastest which I was happy about. Passes about 6 people on the run.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, do more bricks
Post race
Warm down:

Walking and some light stretching, ate some orange slices, water and a banana. Watched the others finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Get in more swim training, also continue to work on bike speed and do more bricks.

Event comments:

Great weather, good course. This was the 1st annual race and was run well, only 15 mins. from my house made it even better. Will do this race every year if possible.

Great race Jim. Go with the Pam next time! I can't believe what a difference it made. Have fun training and I'll see you at Patriots.
