Pre-race routine:

wake up early and get there early. Cereal and water for breakfast.
Event warmup:

4 mile bike ride and 200m swim some mild active stretching

I should not have taken a swim lesson friday and two saturday. I was smoked at the first bouy
What would you do differently?:

Not swim so much the two days previous, but I knew that and needed the lessons so I went for it.
Transition 1

First race with clip ins and I did good getting my shoes and socks on and getting on the bike. I knew my swim sucked so I was mad at myself.
What would you do differently?:

This is me going hard. I hoped to average 19mph (which was my goal, but I was not far behind it).
What would you do differently?:

Not much. If I could have I would have rested more on the down hills to go faster on the flats and hills, but overall I was happy with my effort on the ride.

I knew it would take me a while to get going. When I got off the bike my hip flexors were locked up and I could barely run.

I felt like I was running just fast enough to not be walking, but I covered the distance without walking so I was happy.

Warm down:

Swam in the lake it felt good. I also static stretched some.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Overtaining on the swim. I have yet to finish the swim doinh freestyle the whole way. What a kick in the pants right out of the gate. Like I said before I knew my desicion to take the swim classes would haunt me, but even with that I swam faster than my tri in May and that was with a wet suit. I pushed as hard as I could and that is the first time I've had to tell a volunteer to get out of the way so I didn't blow chuncks on them. Luckly I was running on empty and I just dry heaved a few times.

Event comments:

I thought it was a good race. They had cops everywhere and volunteers everywhere. The only incedent I saw was a dog ran after some folks on the run, but as I was running away I heard the owner call the dog back. It was well organized.

Course: Nice course with lots of people cheering. at mile 3 there was a group of people playing "eye of the tiger" That made me laugh and I enjoyed it.
