Pre-race routine:

Worked all day. Tried to stay hydrated, big bowl of pasta for lunch. Grabed a clif bar and a bottle of gatorade before the race
Event warmup:

Not much, met up with Dave, Rob and Setth, chatted for a while. Swam about 200 yards to warm up. Had 1 Gu about 30 min. before the start along with 2 Endurolytes.
Swim
  • 06m 47s
  • 400 yards
  • 01m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

Tried to swim a little harder than the last two races. Came out about 15 sec. faster. Tried to do a little drafting on the way back in. Still need to work on navigation, found myself about 5 yards to the left of the turn bouy, when I was about 10 yards from it.
What would you do differently?:

Better navigation and sighting, but overall, this swim was better than the last two. Overall time for swim and T1 was 36 sec. faster than last race.
Transition 1
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

Had suit pulled down to waist by the time I got out of water. Pushed down to calves when I got to the bike, sat down and pulled rest off. No problems.
What would you do differently?:

Nothign really, went about as smooth as possible.
Bike
  • 33m 46s
  • 12 miles
  • 21.32 mile/hr
Comments:

Had trouble clipping in on the left right at the start. I think I've got some crap in my left clip (speedplays) and kept it from engaging. After about a 1/2 mile I was able to get it in. Started taking in some gatorade (red) and it wasn't sitting all that well. So no more red gatorade, I'll stick with lemon lime. Forced myself to drink almost all of the bottle over the two loops becuase it was pretty warm out.
What would you do differently?:

Need to start pushing harder on the bike the next race. I was think a lot about this during the ride. I think I'm afraid I won't have any legs for the run. But I'll never know until I give it a try. Overall bike time was 16 sec. slower than last race.
Transition 2
  • 00m 38s
Comments:

Almost missed my rack, but other than that, pretty good. Took some water to see if I could settle my stomach
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 23m 38s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

Found legs pretty quickly. Only got passed by a few people, and I passed a few. Started getting some side stitches right out of transition that pretty much lasted the entire run. This happened just about every race so far. Not sure if it's related to the bike segment or not. Maybe need to work on stretching a little on bike to open up diaphragm. I Could see Dave almost the entire way, he was about 100-200 yards ahead of me, I tried to reel him in, but he ran pretty strong.
What would you do differently?:

Try not to get the side stitches. Run plus T2 time was 1 second faster than last race.
Post race
Warm down:

Some water and walkign around, chatted with Dave and Rob.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think I'm just about raced out The was the 4th race (1/2IM, 2 sprints and a 15k) in 20 days. I have no more races scheduled for 2 weeks. Overall I'm pleased with the race. I bettered my time of two weeks ago by 21 seconds, so I can't complain.

Event comments:

I want to put some decent training efforts in over the next couple of weeks, and next race, push harder on the bike to see what happens on the run.

Chris,
That is the beauty of these races, experimentation.  Next time I am going to go a little easier on the bike and see what happens w/ the run.

Have a great Weekend, and thanks for stalking me, it kept me going.

Adios
Dave
