about a week ago I posted that I had done my open water swim and had gotten dizzy after.  Some of you suggested that I use ear plugs to help with the dizziness this was great advice.  I tried them today did about 500m and after I was not dizzy at all.  I felt great.  Also I am swimming much straighter than I did the first time.  For anyone who is having a hard time in open water keep practicing it gets better every time.

I am in Nampa.   Where do you practice your open water swims I have been going to lake lowel and sandy point beach.  Also are you going to Emmett on the 7th.

Same here... I found early on that ear plugs were very helpful to me while swimming.

My sister swears by ear plugs, but I've never used them. I seem to have tiny ears (I have to buy the tiny Sony earphones as the iPod/iPhone ones don't are too big & hurt).  Any suggestions for a good brand for swimming?

I too have tiny ears and everything hurt me but I found these and they are soooo comfortable and they work to keep the water out as well as not getting dizzy.

You might want to check out the silicone pillow types, they don't go in the ear canal, they cover it.

Perhaps these?

Ditto the silicone ones. They don't do in the canal, you just stuff them into the big open part of the ear. With them in, it's one less thing to worry about! I by mine at Walgreen (your local drugstore)

I've always had problems with getting water in my ears when swimming so I use ear plugs. I found some Finis ear plugs that work well that I use when swimming laps, but I use the silicone plugs during a race. I will usually just toss the silicone plugs instead of trying to save them when heading to T1. As someone else suggested, you can pick them up fairly cheap at stores like Walgreen's.
