Man, you should make that your avatar.

I would agree except Breen is a little MUCH older.  Laughing   (but he does maintain a similar hair style)

Yes, but has he lost his baby fat?

well considering by the exercises you listed you are talking of strength training not weightlifting.  There is a difference, the reason everyone goes off on a tangent is when they hear strength training they immediately think weights which is not the case.

I'd go along the lines of what scout was suggesting,  Hill work,  but I'd choose biking up and down a hill over running, just personal perference since I could do that more often then running.  When you do you swimming, flip on your back a dolphin kick for a few laps, that is a great core workout.  and if you have the place to do it at home I'd keep the 30' rope climb, dips and pull ups which is good core work also.  Really except for the rope climp you could most likely do the dips, push ups, pull ups at home to save time.

Dead Horse, I know ... but the thing that turned me off weight training is the concept that there is no way in heck that lifting something 10 to 20 times is any where close to as effective as 80 rotation per minute over x number of hours in building fitness, particularly given that triathletes tend to go for the high reps at low weight approach.

I am still trying to keep an open mind to the whole debate since I am turning 40 this year, and even the anti-weight crowd seems to acknowledge some benefit for the aging triathlete.

For now I do my strength training on the bike (hill repeats on low rpm), running (hill workouts) and in the water (sets with paddles and buoys).

Cheers,
-jason
