Humid conditions, speeding ticket on way over, not really full on board given the oly distance and the "restraint on the bike" race plan then the ticket

warmup
ran 1.5 mi with hammer and Shane, two EC boys and then swam 400 yards with Shane.

swim:
2x750m lake swim. I continue to swim steadier now. Face in water the whole time. I draft when possible and had good space. Sited decent. Not very fast but solid enough for now. out of the water running a 1/4 mile or so barefoot to transition.

t1
real fast once I got to the bike. seem to have solved my helmet clip on issue.

bike:
one big loop with more hills than advertised. The 280 watt cap gave me a headache early on as right out of the gate there was a sharp climb and my watts hit 576 and I thought "shit, there goes that." However, I kept fighting the urge to throw down. Tried to push the downhills and go easier on the climbs. midway through a pesky little chick with an all3 uni or bike started doing the pass me thing and no matter what I was doing in terms of the "restraint" plan, it kept getting me fired up. it was almost as if she had been sent to test me. on and on this went about 10x. I would reel her back in then try and settle down again. She never truly got away, which was a problem, but on the whole I kept reminding myself that Shanks would judge the run moreso so I needed to have a kick ass run. Not a kick ass bike.

t2
real fast except I hated running downhill with my bike shoes waiting to slip and fall and chuck my bike by accident, which gladly didnt happen over the 100 yards or so we had to tote our bikes.

run:
two out and back/loop course with a short trail climb to start then mildly rolling. off trails to roads by a golf course. Downed a red bull sugarfree shot early on. I just came out punching and held strong. Caught EC_James at the end. Got some nice compliments to the effect of "man youre fast for a big guy." "you are the fastest big dude I ever saw" so the plan probably worked.

I have to guess my splits based on the garmin issue:

634
655
626
714
705
626
:34

after
hung out with the EC/All3 crew and Jeff/his wife in the downpour. got my award and skipped the after party.

All in all a pretty good day except for the mind games during the bike. These were nullified somewhat by the solid run. This is a good classic olympic as opposed to the philly river one. Considering I had lots more to give on the bike I think I could've had 5 or so less minutes on my time.
