Age Group Rank = 2/18
Pre-race routine:

This was the last Quebec cup event. Last chance to get some points. I was ranked 5th overall going in. This was last chance to pull that up. I will have to wait for the final results, but I did improve my rank. I might have podiumed for the season/series. Yipee.

Nothing special. Got there early. Only had 1 extra large coffee this time

I cheered etccallhome82 in the duathlon. Not sure he heard me. He was running well.
Event warmup:

Did one loop on the bike course (5km) and a bit of jogging. Felt crap on the warm up.
Swim
  • 12m 58s
  • 750 meters
  • 01m 44s / 100 meters
Comments:

I was disappointed coming out of the water. I thought I had swam well but was expecting a good 45 seconds faster. Oh well.

Not hitting arms, no running over people. Very pleasant swim. Maybe I was enjoying too much :-)
What would you do differently?:

Not much. I did swim straight and relaxed. I guess the pace was a little off
Transition 1
  • 02m 4s
Comments:

Bad T1. I had trouble getting the wetsuit off at the elbows of all places. WTF was that ?. Between the bad swim and bad T1, I was ready to just coast the rest. Glad I didn't.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. I should know how to do this by now
Bike
  • 35m 5s
  • 20.52 kms
  • 35.09 km/hr
Comments:

I was happy with the bike. Hit my watts target.

After first lap I saw it was going well, so I pushed.
What would you do differently?:

Not much
Transition 2
  • 00m 52s
Comments:

Good T2, went smooth
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 20m 50s
  • 4.9 kms
  • 04m 15s  min/km
Comments:

I started off fast. First k was 4:10. I backed off a little, which was stupid. Second k 4;22. started feeling good at 3km so picked it up 4:14, 4:18 for the next two. I saw I wasn't too far behind a guy that usually wins my AG, I figured I had a podium shot, looked back and decided to push, but I was toast. 4:10 pace for the last K, which was short (did it in 3:45).

What would you do differently?:

nothing, maybe not back off 2nd km. That was wimpy. I don't like pain....
Post race
Warm down:

nothing special.

I looked at the results, realized I had podiumed (2nd), so was happy

I was especially happy I beat all the guys that normally beat me. Except 1.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

nothing

Event comments:

Good event, but the 'pick up your medal at the counter' sucks.

Good job Marc!!

He he
