Comments:

Seemed far to the eye but looking at the time and length of the run to transition, perhaps they were correct.

I thought I was beaten by someone in my age group but come to find out he was older. Maybe more depressing.

Comments:

Best T1 yet. Kept thinking I could rest on the bike while moving if need be.

The dismount line took me by surprise and I dropped my watch on the mat trying to put it on for the run.
What would you do differently?:

Scout the dismount line and hold on to my watch.
Run
  • 23m 52s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

Very hard again like Englewood. I did finish strong and for the most part was happy with the effort.
What would you do differently?:

Post race
Warm down:

Swam in the sea.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Cardio and leg strength on the bike.

Event comments:

Just a little less everything than the other races I've done this summer.
Loved the venue but not so much the race. It was a little unorganized and the bike was very dangerous. Too much congregation in the course.

The positives were:

My wife came along and got inspired. She enjoyed it and seems very motivated.

Met Shellabree my first real BT friend and the only one I have actually met in person.
She ran the run in zone 2 and still took 2nd. How nice would that be?

You are such a rockstar!  Congrats on your awesome finish! That guy who beat you out of the swim... what was he, a former Olympian?  His time was insane!  It's so amazing that this is only your first year and you are doing so well.  Natural athlete.  I can't wait to see what you do next year.  Endurance sports suit you... and that bike will come along more quickly than you know.

Like I said in my RR, meeting you and J was the highlight of my day!  You two are super!

ETA:  Ha! There was nothing zone2 about my run.  The pace (um, yeah) would have been zone2 on any other training day, but yesterday, it was solidy zone6-- or whatever is 110% of max HR and feels like sedation & mechanical ventilation may be required at the finish. YIKES!

Congrats!

Sprints are 100% go the whole time so hurt quite a bit. Glad to see your wife was motivated..will she maybe consider doing a tri?

What's up with messing around with your watch? Can you put it on and leave it for the race and just push lap button for splits?

3rd..nice...but I think from what I've read in your blog hardware isn't why you do this....keep enjoying it!

Thanks for the response. My wife does want to do a triathlon. She has been biking since May and running 3 years straight. The swimming is what gets her. She has been swimming for about three weeks now but our schedule is going to make it tough for her to do one this year. She is not ready for the swim yet and that would be to much seeing that the tris around here are in the ocean.

Does she have any interest in starting with duathlons?  Seems like alot of the races around here have that option (like Siesta Key on 10/3).
