Tick repellent

I haven't had a lot of issues with ticks, but I usually wear a wide-brimmed hat to keep them from landing on my head/neck.  A lot of times, long pants and maybe a long-sleeve shirt.

I hunt quite a bit in Florida and other areas in the Southeast, likely the tick capital of the world.  Repel makes good products, some for say backyard use and some more for deep woods activities.  If you are around a tick populated areas try something with more then 30% DEET as the active ingredient.  That has been my rule of thumb and worked thus far.  Of course the more you are sweating the more you will likely need to reapply.

I have Deet 40, so I should be good to go. Weirdly, the Repel w/Deet 40 makes no mention of ticks.

I'll need to pickup some tequila, however.

I cut my hair SHORT, so I don't expect ticks to latch onto my hair and move onto my scalp (I wear a bandanna). The rest ... well, wish me luck! Lots of spraying of deet 40.

Deet...nasty stuff but works. But they will find an area that you missed. 

If it is cool enough, I have a set of Rinoskins (http://www.rynoskin.com/) THis is basically a very tightly woven cloth that fits very tightly. Ticks, chiggers etc can't bite through it (mosquitoes can!) nor crawl under it. They have worked very well for me and I don't have to spray so much of that poison.

As mentioned above. It is very important to do a total body check afterwards, or every 24 hours. The ticks that carry Lyme disease are the little ones (size of a printed "period" at the end of a sentence). For some reason it takes >24 hours for the disease to be transmitted from tick to you. So if you get the tick off in that time, the likelihood of getting Lyme's is very low.
