Precipitation
Total Time = 1h 34m 44s
Overall Rank = 36/80
Age Group = 35-59
Age Group Rank = 2/7
Pre-race routine:

Set up transition in rain, sat in car to stay warm, listen to tunes.

Ate a mini wheat bagel with peanut butter and a coffee (1 sugar, little milk) for breakfast.
Event warmup:

Hopped up and down for a bit, ran about a mile or so then stretched for a while.
Swim
  • 25m 33s
  • 1056 yards
  • 02m 25s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt good on the swim. Breathing was good. Stroke was good. had to go to backstroke or breast stroke for catching breath (see below).

100+ yard run and transition is included in overall swim time.
What would you do differently?:

Train more, but I was burned out on laps and only swam once since early august tri.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

transition time is part of swim time, so no time here. Felt good and quick onto the bike
What would you do differently?:

I thought I did well!
Bike
  • 43m 14s
  • 13.5 miles
  • 18.74 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt good riding. Had to slow up going down a hill for a car that was going too slow :) I should have used an easier gear for the first few hills instead of using adrenaline. Made first stretch on 183 a bit hard. 2nd lap did better and rode faster (I think) on hills with easier gear.
What would you do differently?:

Use a different gear (39 not 53) on hills during first lap.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

This transition time is included with the run (blah)

transition seemed good. Not sure if I'd do anything different.
Run
  • 25m 57s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 08m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt good on the run. water sloshing a bit for first mile or so in my stomach. gotta work on down hill running form. felt a tad tentative with wet road going fast down hills.
What would you do differently?:

Not run out so hard...water was sloshing.
Post race
Warm down:

stretch, drink water/ shaklee performance drink. ate bagel, 1/2 muffing, strawberries and grapes.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of swim practice.

Event comments:

I didn't like the transitions being added into the swim and run (I don't time myself with a watch). Didn't seem like a lot of volunteers, I overheard that some people got lost on the bike. It is a small race and I'd say it was worth the price ($70).
