The english, you may find, are by nature shy and retiring and don't like to shout about their achievements. And, of course are generally out biking, swimming and running and don't have time to loll around on the computer (i would be out myself but I felt rain in the air).Smile

And it seems they're quite superior to us lowly Americans.

Thanks! Now it's time to find some riding and running trails. And someplace to bleedin' swim! (Did I say that right?)

good use of the queens english already. You can graduate to learning some cockney rhyming slang for when you move to London.
50m pool for swimming in Crystal Palace )south London) is good. Or brave the Serpentine lake in Hyde Park.

I've heard there's a swim club that swims in the serpentine year-round. Like at 5am or something? Crazy bastages! I am all about OWS but dayum, not when it's that cold!

You are right
they are usually pictured in the news diving in for their traditional swim at Christmas every year. No wetsuits either.
Not for me thanks

You need to HTFU Tony.

Sunderland (my home town, NE England) has an annual boxing day dip where they do it in fancy dress and then stand around in wet clothes.

But the pommies on here will be well aware of the propensity of NE girls to go out on the town in winter wearing what would be considered immoral in most of the civilized world.

Ha I may actually dip into the water but if I'm going in, I'm wearing a wetsuit! I've done polar plunges before. They're quite fun, but usually you get out and dry off fairly quickly. And I've noticed the dress of the young ladies since I'm staying right by a place called `Fabric' ... on a Friday night you can basically see their knickers, if they're wearing any, that is.

And don't forget the redcar dip on boxing day. I've been to watch them do it but its never appealed to be honest.
