Swim
  • 09m 28s
  • 732 meters
  • 01m 17s / 100 meters
Comments:

better than expected
What would you do differently?:

for a longer race, pace a bit more
Transition 1
  • 04m 15s
Comments:

tired from run up beach, but pumped from swim performance.
A little trouble with right ankle
What would you do differently?:

remember to start Bike computer.
practice wetsuit removal....need
need to figure out shoes---on bike vs run in them....
Bike
  • 51m 14s
  • 13.05 miles
  • 15.28 mile/hr
Comments:

Flat rear tire within first few minutes on bike. Took over 12 min to change and inflate. Gashed finger in process. Heated up quite a bit in the hot sun....after being passed by everyone and their mother, tried to make up time instead of doing my race
What would you do differently?:

1. Remember to both start and stop bike computer
2. Inflate tires there, not at home (20 degree difference by racetime)..might have caused my flat.
Transition 2
  • 01m 53s
Comments:

Still frustrated with bike. Long walk/trot in transition with bike.
What would you do differently?:

1. Remeber to grab race belt.

Run
  • 39m 16s
  • 4 miles
  • 09m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

hot....last mile was a killer. Started to walk...someone encouraged me...

What would you do differently?:

Need to learn to drink while running...especially on hot day.
Train for run more...train train train
Post race
Warm down:

Not much...just hydrated and cooled down

What limited your ability to perform faster:

1. Inexperience.
2. Flat tire
3. fatigue on run...hr was upto 175..not sure if heat effect or lack of training or both.
4. Mental...was a lot tougher than i thought...especially last mile of run...I had it in me to do better physically i believe...the last mile of run i told myself no way ill do another...not worth this pain....about 15 minutes after finishing, i felt i could/would wanted to do another and want to do better

Event comments:

Ill never call it "just" a sprint tri.
Need to be mentally tougher.
Heat is killer.

Will definitly need to have hydration and nutrition plan for OLY.
Need to wear / buy a tri-suit for oly.

If i take away 13 minutes for tire change...would have been in top half of my age group.

Way to stick it out even after having a flat. Many would say "forget it" especially when it's 100 outside. Nice job and awesome swim time!

I'll second that...I've heard it said that it's not even worth changing a flat on a sprint but you stuck it out and did it...and in that killer heat too.  GREAT JOB!!!  Next one will go more smoothly

Thanks for the encouragement.  The flat was very deflating (no pun intended), but it was my first tri and there was no way i was not going to finish. Of course this was what i said 20 minutes into it. During the run...my head was saying another. Congrats to all you for finishing in the heat as well.  Way tougher than i could have imagined.
