Subject: Shoulda, coulda, woulda...another lesson to be had...Jorge's cycling plan
Could have had a podium spot today but a flat 1.5 miles into the ride ruined the day Cry.  Based on the official race bike result and the bike CPU moving time, the difference was 8:45. I would have had 3rd place easily and it would have had been a battle on the run for 2nd which being only 7 seconds behind.

Here's the kicker.  Put in a brand new tube filled it up and the valve was broken, screwed tight it was leaking air, seriously.  Replaced tube again (road crew happen to show up at the perfect time) but the damage was more than done losing so much time.  So the lesson, check your spare tubes even if they are new.

Also for those thinking about doing Jorge's cycling plan this winter, DO IT!  I spent the last 4-5 or so weeks doing most of the 60MP portion of the plan and my bike power and fitness is way up. My moving average for the 15.8 miles that included several bridges was another PR at 22.8 mph.  This past spring I rode a very flat 15.3mi course at 22.4mph for a PR by 1.4mph after doing the first 7-8 weeks of Jorge's plan.

pds0006 - 2010-10-03 7:28 PM What/where is Jorge's cycling plan?

He will start it up sometime next month, look for it in the challenge forum.  I did most of it last winter ( had a Feb half mary that was my main focus).  If I recover enough from this gastrocs tear I'll do it again this winter as my focus plan but it all depends on my leg cooperating with the process (headed into week 7 of swimming alone and it's not fun)

Ouch!!! bummer about the flat!  Bad luck on that one but thanks for the tip and I will check my spare.

+1000 on Jorge's bike plan.  I did it this year and it made a big difference and I am planning on doing it again (but not starting until Dec).

man I hate flats....    hey btw what do you mean by the 60MP  portion? 60 minutes? or is that some obscure (for me anyway) power reference?

There were 4 basic stages to the 14week plan; Prep, 5 min max power (VO2 max), 20 min max power (transition) then 60min max power (maximum lactate steady state).

Isn't 60 minute max power, which you refer to as 60MP, also more commonly known as functional threshold power, or FTP? That's what I've always heard 60 minute power being referred to as. (Keep in mind, I dont train with power so I could be making this up)
