Just thought I'd post this to give others a bit of a laugh.

The AVIA Austin Triathlon that took place last month was my very first triathlon.  It went extremely well and I was delighted to finish in a respectable time. The swim, cycle, and run all went flawlessly but one thing did catch me off guard.  As I approached the finish and began running down the finish line chute I spotted the volunteers at the line stretching the ribbon out.  My fatigue addled brain began to panic, I thought that maybe an AG winner was approaching and that I was going to spoil their finish by running through it.  It didn't even occur to me that they were pulling it across for me so as to make a nice photo finish.  Well the result was as follows.....possibly the most embarrassing finish line photo ever!

Whilst I do plan on purchasing a few photo's from the race as a memento I don't think this one will be making the mantle Cool

Okay, this is AWESOME. Just about the best worst tri photo I've ever seen. What a wonderful memory, though!!! It's really THOSE moments that stand out. Kudos for owning it and posting it, and CONGRATULATIONS, triathlete!!!

P.S. Being that foggy means you pushed it really, really hard. Good work.

I didn't see the ribbon, initially until I read what you posted.
I thought you planned it so that you would avoid or limbo the "ghost" photography banner.

The ribbon is indeed a little hard to see yes but it's there Wink

I can only imagine what the volunteers, spectators and finish line officials must of been thinking as I did it.  The girl who kindly put the medal around my neck moments after that shot was taken did have a very big smile....I just assumed she was happy to see me lol

Perhaps the flag was for the 1st person that finished wearing VFFs.

I was really nervous before my last Tri ,since it was my first major OWS.
I was talking to a friend of mine taht had done the same race previously and he said, "So what if you screw up thsoe are the races that make the best stories."
. You have got one heck of a great story and you should get the picture to "prove" it.

That's a great terrible finish line photo.  Sort of looks like you're trying to avoid hitting your head on the watermark.

That's great!

I'm glad I don't have to worry about a misplaced finishers ribbon getting in my way.

AWESOME.  I needed that laugh...and I applaude you because you obviously went hard enough in the race to need to duck under it rather than jump over

I would like to see a triathlon where you have hurdles during the final stretch home...and to make it fair and more interesting there would be hurdles of various heights and you would penalized (say 5 seconds for each) of the smallest hurdles you jump and rewarded (subtracting time off your finish time) if you get over the higher ones.

Awesome finish!!! and congrats on a good tri
