Pre-race routine:

The wife and I ate dinner at a terribly unimpressive restaurant in Cincy. We spent the night in a hotel in Florence.
Event warmup:

Walked from Florence across the Purple People Bridge. Probably about a mile or so.Stretched and started

Comments:

This was my first race as a pacer. My wife had never been able to crack 2:00hrs in 3 previous attempts. Her training for this one wasnt very intense as she had just run a half a few weeks ago. I told her that I was going to get her across. I wore a watch for the first time in a long time. Our target pace was 9:00min/miles and by golly if we didnt hit almost spot on. I didnt even have a garmin or a HR monitor, just a simple watch. We were right on track except for the first two miles which were a little slow due to congestion. She came across the finish line with time to spare.
What would you do differently?:

Warm down:

Not much

Event comments:

They do need to change some race logistics. They had a long line just to get water after the race. The area was very congested and you should not have to wait 5 min to get something to drink post race. There was also a dearth of porta potties visible near the start and finish. There were also scant opportunities on the course I counted a total of 4 bathrooms along the course.

ok for a first time event and the money went to a good cause.

Nice job as a pacer and glad to hear you weren't an HRM weenie. Congrats to the wife for going sub 2:00!

ETA: It was super crowded at the beginning, nothing like feeling like you're in a cattle shoot. I felt like it took until the hill to thin people out.
