Pre-race routine:

Event warmup:

Stetched out in a tent area set-up.

Comments:

Working toward 60 min. at the half way point. Pretty close. This was a very hilly half-marathon, but was still nice race venue. The rain was off and on, but no real hard down pours other than the start. The first of the race was mainly up hill after hill; steep at the beginning and then some gradual climbs. Long downhill right before the tunnels and s short up hill to the turn around. After the turn around it was back into the tunnel and then up, up and up some more. Very long pull. I think I might have gone to hard here. I hit a wall about a mile from the finish. Some smaller steep hills did me in. I managed to finish strong. My watch said 2:00:23; I think what happened is that I lost some data on my GPS watch going through the tunnels which may explain the difference in time. Very tough last mile. I did some intermittant walking to gather my self and try to regain my pace.
What would you do differently?:

I think I did well given how hilly the route was. Need to get more mileage for longer distances at a slower pace. This was my first race at this distance and longest run ever to date.

I think I could have gone sub 2 hours on a flatter course.
Post race
Warm down:

Tried to stetch out some. To tired to run and very sore.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Longer distance training and hilly route. Was my first at this distance.

Event comments:

Parking directions were not very good. When I arrive I found no one directing people where to go. I ended up parking a long ways away when I could have been closer. Contruction near the race start hampered finding the place.

Food and extras were great and plenty.
