Anyone else doing this ride?  This year will be my first attempt at it.

I may be in for next year, but I have not decided on a fall race.  Are tri bikes ok?

I must confess that I really don't know too much about the ride.  Everything I know is below:
http://www.tourdashugel.com/2010/info
10,000ft of climbing over ~100 miles
The route climbs every major hill in Austin
A grass-roots type of ride completely volunteer-run
It's going to be a long slow day

I'm riding my 52/42/32 x 12-28 road bike and leaving the 53/39 x 11-25 tri bike at home.

I'm strongly considering this ride.  It would be a long, slow day for me as well.  I've only been on my bike a couple of times since IM Lou, so I'm not in the best of cycling shape but have a friend that did the pre-ride last weekend and that has me thinking about it.

I guess I have to decide within the next day or so...

ETA:  If I do it, it will be on a tri-bike as that's all I've got.

This will be my fourth time.  Only doing the first loop due to time constraints with the family.

The cheesy potatoes at the River Place stop are awesome.

You'll see a handful of people on tri bikes.

This is my favorite ride in Austin.  The vibe from the other riders cannot be beat.

Smoky Valley, which is on the first loop, has to be the hardest hill of them all.  At one point the grade is around 23%.  And when you get to the top, you still have Ladera Norte to taunt you Smile

Jester being in the last few miles is interesting.  Makes the ride back on 360 seem pretty tame.

When you are riding down th edam hill, you'll take a right into the park and another quick right between rocks.  There is actually some pavement there as you ride under the 620 bridge.  Be careful on this path as there are a few rough patches.

Enjoy the ride!

Oh geez, it's tomorrow isn't it!?  Weather looks like it'll be cool and I loaded up on pizza at Double Dave's today for lunch.  Bring it!

In case you're looking for me, I'll be on a purple (yes, purple) Trek 1420 with downtube shifters and wearing a TacoDeli jersey.

10,000 ft of climb over 108 miles and just over 8 hours in the saddle.  Ouch.  Glad I took it easy - had a good bit left in the tank at the end.  Maybe I won't be completely useless tomorrow!

Great job!

I was out there supporting my friend who rode it. Me and his wife cheered people on.

If you saw a tall blond (not me), and another gal with light brown hair (me) out on the course, cheering on riders, you saw me! I had a lot of fun getting to cheer people on. Really happy I didn't have to ride DOWN some of those hills. And I would need a triple to go up MANY of those hills!

Great job on finishing and doing it in 8 hours!

I'm sure I did see y'all then!  Where did y'all stake out?  I definitely remember a couple ladies on Jester cheering and one ran with me TdF-style as I hopped out of the saddle for a sprint to the top.

BTW, I did ride a triple: 52/42/32 and 12-27 (7-speed).  She's an oldie but a goodie....18 yrs to be exact!  Top speed: 47mph.

Oh yeah! That was us! Sabrina ran beside you! Ha! Nice to "meet" you! You did a great job sprinting up that hill at that point! I was impressed!

Hey, you showed it's not the bike, but the ENGINE!
