Thank you all for adopting a rescue!  We adopted our first rescue this past March from Shelter from the Storm rescue group in Madison.  He is a Jack Russell terrier mix.  We were lucky number three after two people brought him back to the rescue after adopting him.  I say it was meant to be.  He is a crazy/fun dog who is full of energy!

This is Odin:

Hello

Here is the Buddy update

He is adjusting well at home and here at work.  Today is the second day he came to work with me and he sleeps and gets attention from everyone walking in.

I am taking Buddy to Pet Smart this afternoon for bath & haircut.  I have already told the Pet Smart people that Buddy is a special needs dog and will need a gentle hand.  I will post some updated pictures tonight.

He has been a joy to have in the house at home so I think we (Buddy, my wife & me) are all adjusting.

Kevin, do you know what some of his story is? physical abuse? abandonment?

We have 3 rescues.

Java - yellow lab. Picked her up at 9wks. The owner dropped the mother and all 8 of the puppies off. They didn't want to deal with them. Java was one of the puppies.

Red - chocolate lab/golden retriever mix. Found her hiding under the pier at the lake. She was skin & bones. Actually found the owner and learned she had been gone for 2weeks and they had already gotten rid of her stuff. They didn't want her.

And Jeffery. He's just a wild dog that needed some land. The onwners kept him cooped up and he destroyed everything. Seems to love being outside playing though. Sadly, we have found that we have to watch him, because, yes, he can scale a 5.5' privacy fence.

Hello

What we know about Buddy is that he was saved from a puppy mill west of Charleston initially, LowCountry Animal rescue cleaned him up and adopted him out to another family, some time later (July/August 2010) he  was found wondering the streets as a stray with a bad infection in his left eye. He was identified from the micro chip and returned to LCAR.  They contacted the owners who gave some lame excuse and discussed a home remedy for his eye problem.  LCAR refused to return him to that family.  They tried to treat his eye but the vet determined the best course was removing his eye plus he had to go through the heart-worm treatments.  Buddy has been listed in our local newspaper for the last 2 1/2 months as needing a new home.  I saw the add in September and then again in October & November. The pictures of him posted on-line just broke my heart.  I asked my wife Friday if we could make Buddy my Christmas present for this year.

So that is how he came to be apart of my family.  He is very scared of loud noises and sometimes scared of mens voices but he had made so much progress in just a few days. I think that in 6 months he will  have forgotten the past abuse and just enjoy life.   I really like having him at work with me and this is one good reason to own your own business.  My employee's have really taken to Buddy.

Thank you for asking.

Kevin

Unlike most Christmas presents, this is one you will cherish for years to come! It sounds like he is doing great.

I just have to contribute a few pics of my rescue sweethearts.  My pup Rudy and my catface Ramses.  Such good boys! They have a naughty little dog brother, too.

Licorice showed up on our front porch half starved the day after we had to put our 14yo lab to sleep.  He has been our training partner for over 15 years.  Old man now but still gets around good.

Below is Chester.  His originalowner is in prison for having a meth lab.  We adopted him 3 years ago.   He is 78lbs of muscle and looks mean, but he is the biggest baby ever!
