Hey everyone!

I got in a GREAT 4 mile run (FINALLY) this morning. My sister is staying with us and she was able to be on guard for DS waking before I got back so DH didn't have to get up. And I just had the best time doing my 4 mile loop in (relatively) cool weather! Did any of you see the movie Spanglish? We watched it last night, the wife in the movie is so competitive that she runs down everyone when she's out jogging, shouting out 'LEFT!' and killing herself to pass. I felt a bit like her when some young thing ran by me this morning and I noticed myself picking up the pace, etc. It was fun.

Now, back to business! I need your week 1 totals by tomorrow (Monday USA) morning if at all possible. Here's our official team roster and goals. We still need to hear from Brent (kausnfxx) who said he wanted to play again. I think he's racing this weekend - so keep him in your thoughts! Check the numbers out and let me know if there are any corrections to be made. Just FYI, if you posted hours I converted to minutes so my formulas all work in the spreadsheet.

Thanks for the note. When you hit 40 you never know what's going to fall out or fall off. I got the bike back in June and I'm just starting to feel comfortable at long distances. Nothing like a new bike to get you to ride a lot more.

Okay, my end of the week looks like this
S-1hour 22min
B-2hour 31min
R-1hour 57min

I`m not good at math, so I can`t tell how many minutes it is all up.
hope this helps.

Happy Monday everyone (well its Monday here anyway)

here's my totals for the first week

Bike 60mins

Run 80 mins

Swim 95 mins

Core 120 mins

Not as much as I would have liked to complete but once again the physio and my knee have dictated the amount I can do. I think I should be right to run and bike again pretty quickly though.

Hey Tens.

It is with a very heavy heart that I must announce my retirement from the team.

I was intending to sit down here tonight and put up my goals, but due to a partially ruptured Achilles tendon that happened during the race today, by doctors orders, I am feet up for the next 2-3 weeks, and then, after re-evaluation, I may be able to start some light training.

Thanks to all of you for all of the support, and all of the great inspires. I promise to keep checking in on y'all and doing my part to keep everyone motivated!

Good luck Tens! Stay healthy (!) and give 'em hell!

Brent

hey Brent - I'm so sorry to hear about the injury. If re-evaluation is in 2-3 weeks, maybe its just a minor setback. I had knee surgery in May and had no running for 3 months. When I finally went back to running (last week), it felt better than ever before. Like a new beginning with spirit. So, maybe these things come up for a reason...to give us an opportunity to re-excite and re-plenish. Anyway, can you still swim and bike?

Good luck and stay here!

Although there seems to be some confusion, they have posted results from the first week and we are in either 1st or 2nd place. Either way, we are off to a good start. Congratulations everyone.

Hey gang!

Now no complainin' out there when we are in FIRST PLACE! At least, it sure looks that way - we're at 22 or 23% as a team and that is what we all need to remember - we are a TEAM! (ok, since I am in next to last place *within* our team I need a pep talk)

Nikki (and everyone) - you are here and working and posting every day and that is what is important. Our goals are just that - personal goals....sometimes we make our goals, sometimes we fall short, sometimes we exceed them - we learn something either way.

If we meet our goals, we get confirmation that we know how to set a realistic plan and make it happen

If we miss our goals, we learn that sometimes life has other ideas, and we learn to rebound and 'Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming' (- Dorie, in Finding Nemo). We learn to adjust our goals and not beat ourselves up.

If we exceed our goals, we know we could set the bar a bit higher next time, and we have what it takes to encourage others - simply by sharing our own stories.

Now - I want all of you to CELEBRATE!!! at least for today - because we are ALL WINNERS on this TEAM!!!!

And then get out there and make it happen!

Hugs,
Annabanana

'Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming' (- Dorie, in Finding Nemo).

Thats almost become the motto of my group training group.  whenever someone is struggling to finish a run or push up some weights or something.  One of us always says Just keep swimming,  just keep swimming in a Dorie voice!

actually that should be on one of the quotes on the top of the BT pages! it really works.

Good morning gang!

Well, Dorie got me going yesterday - I did a 45 minute swim (about 1500y) with a slight break for rain (they make us get out when they can't see the bottom) and it felt really good. i was at the Y and the pool has cooled off and now that school is back in session there is less crud in there. LOL, it was actually my son's idea to go. I missed my bike ride yesterday helping sis get ready for interviews, and was in a kind of crabby mood. About 4pm my son and I had exhausted all methods of entertaining ourselves and he said LET's GO TO THE Y! So we did. He plays in the childcare, then afterwards I went to get him and he got to swim, too. He is learning to dive to the bottom, and was THRILLED because he found 3 coins there. ANyway, TMI - suffice to say it was fun.

I wanted to remind those of you who were on our July challenge, the winners have selected their charity - St. Judes. There is a post about it at the top of the Challenge board, and Karl Kiss has an online link where you can donate that way by credit card. Not sure about international stuff, but it should work, if not there is an address where you can send a check, too.

Now this month we'll just win, then WE can pick our favorite charity to help!

Ok, another attempt at bike today - water bottles are chilling. I'll see if sis wants to come along. It's good for her rehab. (She got a new ACL in May - she does tri's too!)

Hugs and happy Thursday!

Hey Chris! Thanks for the stats!!!

I hope everyone is ready for a super weekend, and that you all have lots of fun planned!

TODAY I DID MY WOODY!!!

I looked at my logs and figured out what I needed in each sport to get to 50% of goal and that was my Woody distance. Here's the report:

1. First swimming 15 minutes in the backyard pool. I think there may be a cooling trend. I could feel my shoulders from the swim Weds, but just kept thinking how nice they'll look in a tank top.

2. T1: Took about 5 minutes - how many triathlons require you to close the baby fence, lock up the house, close the garage door, and make sure you have your cell phone in case the school calls? Sheesh...finally out onto the bike for...

3. 30 minute bike ride: I decided to do my 4 mile running loop and kind of verify the distance, and then added some on in the neighborhood checking out everyone's lawn, building projects, etc. Only went about 12mph but it was fun and starting to get hot, so back home for

4. T2: again it was a little slow, had to fish the garage door opener out of my bike pack, and of course for my woody I needed the mp3 player and some new sunscreen, changed shoes, slapped on a hat, grabbed a handful of pretzels and a new water bottle and out I went.

5. I needed 50 minutes running. I figured if I did the 4 mile loop again, after all the other stuff, it would take me almost that long and I could just add a bit at the end, which is exactly what I did!

I finished just in time for a quick shower and off to pick up DS at school. Now if the weekend gets busy with lawn work and family time, I'm set for the challenge, and I did the WOODY, and I did a triathlon (sort of) for the first time in a year and a half! And

I HAD A BLAST!!!

Now what's up with all of you?????

I'm sorry team. Since the gym closed I've been having a hard time trying to get in my training without injuring myself (though I can't say it was easy when the gym had those limited hours either). But anyway, they open up again this coming Thursday, so I'll be able to start making my Core goals and my running goals and things like that.

Dang, I need to get internet in my house too. But whoo hoo!!! We're in first! (No thanks to me). Go team!
