13.1 Marathon
70F / 21C
Total Time = 1h 53m 7s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group =
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

NO breakfast, just a gel 3 minutes before the start.
Event warmup:

walked about 3/4 mile to race start and made it with about 2 minutes to spare before the gun
  • 1h 53m 7s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 08m 38s  min/mile

This was a PR so I am cool with it. Running faster has been helping, the long slow had its place, but I can clearly run in the 160-170's so perhaps my training at 150bpm and below was just too easy before. this feels more like a pace my body likes. actually less sore.

Regarding nutrition, this is the first race I didn't eat a good breakfast...I had nothing actually and felt fine with the pre race gel and mile 5 nutrition issues. no cramps either so perhaps a light stomach is the way to go for me at this distance.
What would you do differently?:

nothing, just right. looking forward to more PR's at this distance.

Good job. You have correctly identified the key to training for a half. It's much more like training for a 10K than a marathon. You need more quality without the heavy volume.
