I live in malvern and have been doing sprints for about 7 years...

thinking about signing up for Shoreman Half Iron in September and looking for somebody to ride/run with both as training for the HALF and just training in general...

new Chester valley Trail runs directly behind my house...

also thinking of starting a Chester County area Tri Club

cool, let's keep in touch... I'm doing the same thing - riding the trainer every morning for about an hour or so - getting some low HR runs in and start swimming next week...

plan on 4-5 sprints and possibly the HALF IRON I mentioned...

talk to you soon!

Greg

I'm in Paoli.  No HIMs for me this year but I have 3 or 4 Olympics planned.  I swim at the Y, run outside (base miles at night mostly after the kids are in bed) and the trainer inside.  I would like get some early morning ride partners starting about March 15th.  I should be in the 20-25 mile range about then and ready to do anything to not be on the trainer.

Let's bring this thread back when the days get a little longer and the snow melts.

I'd definitely be up for that!!! I've got three boys so my weekend rides are usually early... 6:30-7AM?

we'll get together when the weather clears... and maybe grab another person or two?

I'm just a little further south than you guys, down in Delco. I ride up in your neck of the woods all the time (well, when the weather is warmer and there's no snow on the roads, anyway....)

every time I pass a female runner I wonder if its you...

anyway, keep an eye out here and join us for a ride or run once the weather gets nice...

I'm in Montco but my in-laws live in Downingtown. Their neighbor is a cyclist and he and I have done some rides together. He knows some nice routes. I'd be up for a long ride out that way.

I am in the west chester area.  I not very fast on the bike but am getting better at that.  I would be down for a ride around here. I swim at the Y and do running at many different parks.  Don't know of many tri clubs in the area but am interested in some if anyone has any information.  This will be my first full year.  Only did 2 sprints last year.

Currently training for a HM, 3 Olys, and a HIM.

Hi WC Tri this is my first year doing anything like this.  I am going to start with sprints and see where it takes me.   I am very excited and its gives me more motivation.

Once the weather breaks it will nice to get out of the gym and on the open road (or at least trails)

I'll keep everybody informed on this thread when the weather gets nice... it'd be great to get out in a group and even meet socially...

i see alot of pictures of BT gatherings in different parts of the country and it would be nice to have a little get together? No?

another Bt'er and I do a ride out Creek Road (Rt. 82) in Downingtown along the Brandywine Creek - medium rolling hills and nice scenery especially early on a Saturday morning...

let's keep in touch - maybe get out for some beverages before then?

is anybody else in this group (beside myself) interested in helping to form a TRI Club in our area (Chester County) - mainly recreational but also allowing some to compete at a higher level if they choose?

All we need are a few people to get started... come up with a catchy name... some uni's? socials? group rides and runs...

I've looked at and even joined a few over the years but they're always far enough away that group rides/runs, socials, etc. require a decent amount of drive time.

Definitely doesn't matter what your level or years of experience are, just some enthusiasm and a little time.

I'm in Chester springs, just a little north of most of you. I have done a couple of HIM andplanning on a IM this year.  I have a couple friends in my area that all train together(mostly bike), we have great riding up this way.

As for a club, I was thinking of starting one this year but just found out about a new that is now organizing so I may just join that.  It's been orginized through Lowriders bike shop in Downingtown and Downingtown running store, so it may have discounts associated with it too.

Here is an email I received from the Go tri club for an event next Saturday in West Chester

Hello Fellow Triathletes and Cyclists,

We hope your winter training is going well despite the snow.  Indoor training seems like it’s going to be quite long this winter

Luckily, we have some great indoor cycling opportunities that you should check out.  Next Saturday February 5th, Velo Souplesse Performance Cycling in West Chester, PA (www.velosouplesse.com) will be hosting a FREE Open House from 8am-6pm.  Run by elite cyclists, the facility is the biggest cycling hub in the area offering coaching and fitness programs on Computrainers and Cycle Ops stationary bikes including classes that are designed specifically for triathletes.

You are welcome to come watch their normal group rides performed on custom courses that simulate both hills and drafting featuring their clients and coaches.  They will be going all morning and you can drop in anytime to watch between 8:00am and 2:30pm. You can also sign up for a FREE 30 minute ride on the Computrainers at either 3pm, 4pm, or 5pm.  You just need to bring your road or tri bike and staff members will help you set up and give you a brief run through of how the software works.

If you have never done this type of indoor cycling I would highly recommend seeing what it is all about.  Everyone who's tried it for the first time is hooked.  The benefits are unparalleled and the atmosphere is awesome!

If you are interested in signing up for one of the FREE rides contact [email protected]. Coaches will be available all day to answer questions and also FREE food and drinks.

Happy Training

I know my local Y has a womens Tri team - Scott Honda Tri Team.  Lst year was their 1st year and I think they were very sucessful.  This is the Kennett Square Y.  Rumor has it that they may be starting a mens division, but I have not heard anything to confirm this.

I am also in West Chester.  I did 3 sprints last year and I would like to do two sprints and an Oly. this year.  I just started traing again a few weeks ago.  Read my whiney blog for an explantion.  I can train T/Th afternoons around here, MW afternoons up in Lansdale and the weekends back here in West Chester.
