Pre-race routine:

Woke at 3:45am. Got dressed/ready. Ate 1/2 a colossal bar and drank some water. Left for the race at 4:30am. My dad dropped Brad and I off about 2 1/2 blocks from the start line around 5:15am. We walked/jogged 3 blocks farther to the finish area to check our bags. Jogged back towards the start, used the porta-potties and then went to wait in our corral. Started in corral C, the first corral for open runners. Not too far off the start line.

Comments:

Good run. I definitely understand the distance better and will be better trained for my next full mary. For a first marathon, I was very pleased with how I ran even though I didn't do as well as I expected. I did BQ so I accomplished that goal!!!!!

Finished 37/1259 women, 340-3555 overall and 9/235 in age group!
What would you do differently?:

More longer training runs on hills.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched and waited for my hubby to finish.

Course: Course was though downtown Miami and along Miami Beach. Gorgeous but not as flat as I was led to believe. We had to cross about 10 bridges and they were not slight inclines as described in the race literature. The last bridge was at 25.5m and was a draw bridge so we were running on open grates. As I started to "sprint" (just tried to move a little faster) to the finish line from about 100ft out, my right calf stopped working and I had to limp over the finish line.

Nice run, I guess flatness is in the eye of the runner, I did this race last year and thought it was very flat, even the bridges were no big deal.  Wish I could have run this year instead, looks like the weather was much better, it was too hot and humid last year and that slowed me down to nearly a crawl pace.
