Pre-race routine:

Nutrition: bannana immediately after getting up, then bagel approx two hours before race.
Event warmup:

being nervous, running back and forth to car getting things that I forgot
Swim
  • 13m 41s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 33s / 100 yards
Comments:

Heart rate was to high I need to slow down a little. I sprinted the first 400 too fast

Time was measured to out of transition area, so I took off 3min and added it to T1 time.
What would you do differently?:

More even pace
Transition 1
  • 03m
Comments:

time approx.
Bike
  • 57m 10s
  • 16 miles
  • 16.79 mile/hr
Comments:

Very Hard bike ride. Total ascent 1340. Although I tried to keep an even pace, by the time I got to the run my legs were fried.
Transition 2
  • 02m
Run
  • 29m 5s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

Running is literally my Achilles heel. Today was very hot and as I said before my legs were fried by this point.
What would you do differently?:

Need to incorporate some speedwork into my running. Ultimately I am to heavy (6'0 195lbs) and need to lose another 10 or so.
Post race
Warm down:

Started hydrating immediately and had a bagel and Carb boom.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

MY RUN

Event comments:

Overall I am pretty happy given that this is my first Triathlon this year. And really the first one that I have specifically trained for. I am definitely addicted. Filling out this report makes me realize how much more I need to pay attention to during the race.

Well done. A 1 mile and 3 mile climb sounds nasty. The temperature must have made it tough as well.
