Subject: RE: IM Training - Extra Week It is a pre-existing knee injury due to running. Because of this, I have been slow to build my running in training and am still not completing 100% of the long runs. I would like to get to 100%, but that will be a judgement call based on how they feel the next few weeks. Actually, it is more of a nagging injury (combination of runners knee and a bakers cyst) and I should be able to push through it even if it gets worse. Unfortunately, it hurts during all 3 activities, so I wont get off easy if I drop one activity from training for a week. I have heard mixed reviews on long tapers. I guess it is just a personal preference and I have not noticed much of a difference in previous training periods. I already have a 3 week taper, with a recovery week prior to that. That is basically 4 weeks of tapering and I don't know if I should extend that. KathyG - 2011-03-28 9:40 PM You have 21 days of training to do in 28 days. If you took extra rest day or two as needed that fills 23 days. Take 5 days and repeat them or do a version of them....then you have stretched 21 into 28. I like that idea. It is kind of the compromise between the two. Great for someone who is having a hard time deciding. Edited by agslax 2011-03-29 7:51 AM
