So. Awesome. I am a total triathlete celebrity groupie and that's just so great. Except I wouldn't be able to do a sub-8 jog for 1 minute. Okay, well, maybe half a mile. Okay, maybe one mile. But I'd explode afterwards.

Nah, you would totally be able to hang in there. You just have to stare at CW's legs and the rest is cake. It's quite mesmerizing.

There's something to be said for mesmerizing legs and people. Come to think of it, I managed to run with Sven for 15 minutes at his pace, so that'd be two sub-8 miles in a row. Then I ran back.

And that was after, what, a month of not running and being very sick? Heck, I'm still very sick, that was just a short break.

Leeeeegs ... yummy leeeeegs ...

There are many things to be thankful for today, and one of them is what a marvellous, caring, tremendous, strong, and lively group of Manatees this has been.

Riiighhhhhhht?!?! Laughing

Speaking of legs, I have to go figure out how to unbind these turkey legs before I cook it. It's not rocket science, right!?

But yes, Happy Thanksgiving to you all!  There is truly so much to be thankful for (legs anyone?) and it is really easy to lose sight of that when life gets in the way.

Awww thanks for remembering! I didn't fall into any taper traps and nothing new on race day, I think I'm set.  This is my last big race so I am fully prepared to lay it all out there.

My friends and family have lots of signs, cow bells and vodka so yeah, I would say we are all set Laughing

I'll report back tomorrow!

Sounds like your support crew is prepared. Just imagine all us Manatees lined up along the side all the way cheering you on. Also, just a little advice -- cherish every mile..you'll never have another "first" marathon. So excited for you!!

I did it. I qualified for Boston. I might have to get my time down a little in a summer marathon if I physically want to GO to Boston but I qualified. 3:34 and some change. Phew. Torrential downpours, headwinds. I will write a race report later.

Thank you guys so much for your support!

CONGRATULATIONS, ADRIENNE!!! I am utterly in awe of you. You've worked so hard and consistently, trained SMART, and really honed your instincts about your body and performance without any gadgets, most of the time without even a WATCH!!! Unbelievable, and absolutely the way to go. Heart, soul, and body, you are the real deal--in sports and in friendship.

Thank you! All the manatee support was MUCH appreciated. I even imagined you guys along the race course. Of course at this point I was probably hallucinating.

My race report is up. It is really poorly written but I wanted to get it down while is was fresh. I don't think my brain is working correctly, even now. Also, I can't walk lol

And, no one told me that after your first marathon, it's really your triceps that need strength to help lift you off the toilet. Stairs? Don't even think about it.

So, what is everyone else out there doing? Yanti, you had better not have anything to contribute because you should be resting. I imagine this mentor program is about over but until then, what's up?

Well - I'm getting fat and enjoying life!!!  Actually, I'm wondering what I have to do to run like you do.  I don't like running, have never liked running, and I'm working on making running a fun item for me.  I'm running a 1/2 Mary this Saturday - my first - and hoping it will be dry.  Weather is calling for snow showers and high 30s.  I've hit a few 11 mile runs over the last several weeks - and did another 9 mile on Turkey day, but otherwise just running in preparation for the 1/2.

I joined a local TRI club to compete with them in the USAT National Challenge to help motivate myself for winter training.  That starts Monday with a swim emphasis initially - looking forward to the low impact exersize.  I will race Saturday, "rest" Sunday (putting up Christmas decorations), and then start my Tri training Monday - 22 weeks of the Don Fink 30 week Ironman Competitive / Intermediate "combined" plan (they are very similar except for brick or double workouts on weekends - I'm targeting between the two plans).  I'd share my stuff but they are all loaded in TrainingPeaks software.  Going to go it alone - no paid coach - but some good coaches in the TRI club.

The plan ends the week of May 5 - which happens to be the weekend of Ironman St. George.  That will be officially on my race calendar next week (payday needed).  I got to looking at the HITS long course in Colorado Vs the St. George and believe St. George will be easier for my first.  Funny how Ironman FLA sells out in 15 minutes, AZ sells out in 10 minutes, but St. George is still open after 7 months - and I'm calling it "easy".

I passed on Escape from Alcatraz due to not wanting to do two "away" races and the high entry fee.  After the Ironman, I think I'll focus on the smaller local (and cheaper) races - lots to pick from within 2 hours of home.

Wellll, I wish I could swim better! I think the key to running better is to enjoy it. Unfortunately the key to enjoying it is doing it more. I challenged myself to run every single day in June (I think it was June anyway) and this REALLY helped. I didn't make any goals of time or distance. Just getting out there and doing it.

It sounds like your training plan will be perfect. St. George is supposed to be really difficult, right? I am thinking 2013 will by my "Year of the Ironman" so I need to figure out which one to do. Coeur D'Alene makes the most sense but I think I am too much of a pansy for those water temps (Gooooo Lynn, big props!!!!)

Well, I, uh ... am going to be the first person to do an Ironman on the top-secret, elusive yoga-and-bedrest training program.
