Thanks for the update on the Tennessee river Chris....I guess the river swim is my biggest concern I currently have.  All the other OWS I have done have all been in a lake, so this is the first 'river swim'.  This is also my first OWS in my new Vortex full sleeved wet suit (in the past I had one that was sleeveless).  Makes me kinda of nervous.

Looking forward to it, hoping it will be a fun ( & fast) race.  There is a large group from the BT MG "SWBKRUN" meeting up to race the Oly and the half.

We should try to have a quick BT rally somewhere before the race starts.  It would be fun to put some faces with some screen-names.

The river will be a lot like a lake swim for the most part. You start in the water (no warmup allowed though) and they PULL you up onto the dock at the exit. Be careful that you get out at the mat draped over the side of the dock, otherwise you will rip your wetsuit! The river is not all that big either, so it's fairly difficult to get off course. (especially since it's straight up, turn around, straight back)

I'll be around part of Friday and most of the day Saturday so I'm up for a BT gettogether

No latter!? Just yank us out of the water? How high above the water is the deck?

They might have a ladder this year, I think a lot of people complained last year.

It wasn't too bad getting out but if your arms are tired I guess it could be a bit rough.

I thought it was an excellent swim course, no navigation really just an up and back, almost a point to point straight line.

Let's surely meet up as a group, that would be awesome. Maybe dinner, family, etc.- or whatever. Who wants to take the lead and suggest a meeting time and place. Let's do it!Cool

I'm gleaming from your name you are a Wisconsin transplant? I live 15 minutes from the border of the great Badger state and do most of my races there. I just completed my first Crazylegs 8k in Madison last week.

Any thoughts on a Fri or Sat get together of BT'ers? Lunch, dinner, whatever?

Another question for the group. This is my first Oly, any advice on the week of the race diet, especially the 2-3 days prior to the big day? Thanks in advance.

someone once told me that you should never try a new diet during or before a triathlon unless it held the name of "chicken" or "soup".  Actually with a oly distance I can't think you are going to hit  a place where you are going to need to go into your 'stored' reserves.  maybe some carbo loading the day or two before, and during the race some gatorade or something similiar will do the trick...my 2 cents.

Don't change anything. So long as your diet isn't totally inept to start with, all you can possibly do is screw something up and make yourself sick.

Barley's, Crown & Goose, Sullivan's Saloon, NAMA sushi and Downtown Brewery (as well as some other places that's name escape me) are all close to the Rev3 site (walking distance)

Leegoocrap, if I'm typing that correctly is from the area, should we just go with his suggestion about a meeting place? Is Saturday better for everybody? Bring the family and enjoy? The sushi place scares me but otherwise I'm in for any place that is chosen. Does Sat afternooon, night, sound ok the group? It makes no difference to me, I'm just throwing things out there, somebody salute.Cool

Where do you live currently?  We ride regularly down in Racine on the course.

I was a transplant to Texas, but we have been back in the Milwaukee Area for several years.  I am driving down to Knoxersville on Friday night, probably will get in Saturday AM.  Sorry, already have dinner plans for Sat night, but we should try to get a group together Sun AM before the race for a BT picture somewhere......

In reference to your food question.  Don't change anything before the race.  My only suggestion is to just make sure you bring 100 - 300 calories on the bike in whatever form you are used to using during training.  (Gels, drink, powerbar, etc.

I have a dinner with Team in Training Saturday night but I could do anytime around lunch. We all have to be there sometime during the day Saturday for packet pick up and bike check in. We could meet for lunch or meet at packet pick up, get the bikes dropped off and then decide on a lunch spot within walking distance. We could also meet at Calhoun's right where the race starts. Just some suggestions.

transition is pretty much directly across from Calhouns (well... a bit down actually, but very close)

Lunch at Calhouns then? We can meet up in transition or at Calhouns. What time is good for everybody?

Yeah, the weather has been better than forecasted the last few days. I think all of the lakes and mountains make it a crap shoot around here. It has been beautiful though and we may get lucky.

I live here so I'll let you travelers decide on the time for lunch.

1:00 sounds pretty good to me, gives everyone time to get there after the noon athlete meeting.

By the way Tony, we need a picture of the two Planet X's this weekend.

bleh, 40% chance of showers on Sunday. It forecast 100% of T-storms on Sunday yesterday. No need to fret quite yet.
