Subject: Riding in Ottawa

Next weekend, DH and I are taking a mini vacation to ottawa.  I want to bring my bike so that I can ride a couple of times, where does one ride in Ottawa?  I would probably be going for an hour or so on Thursday and 2 hours on Saturday.  We are staying downtown.

There is the paved bike trail along the canal.

Gatineau Park hands down.

Google the Alcatel Sundays route.

The absolute best riding around Ottawa is in the Gatineau Park.  The Ottawa River, the Gatineau River and the Rideau Canal and River all have paved bicylce paths but they are busy with riders, pedestrians, runners, roller skaters...and it is speed capped at 20 km/hr.  The Park is the place to be and the hills are not very high or steep.
