Overall Rank = 314/538
Age Group = Athena
Age Group Rank = 4/16
Pre-race routine:

Ran 2 miles after dinner Fri night in the dark and rain. I needed time in my own head.

Getting yelled at by RunningFlyr for 'breaking' Twink's TV. Cup of coffee, Mojo bar, 1/2 a banana.
Event warmup:

Stretching, swam 100yds.
Swim
  • 08m 43s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 59s / 100 yards
Comments:

I cut in line because I padded my time a bit for the swim, but looking around at the people and how much I wanted the race to be over, I self seeded. The swim went FAST for me....by the time I 'looked' around I had 100 to go and them wham, I was donzo!
Transition 1
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

Flying starts can go kiss my grits.
Bike
  • 48m 32s
  • 13.05 miles
  • 16.13 mile/hr
Comments:

One of my cleats had come loose and it took me FOREVER to snap in at the mount line. I was pissed cause I knew it was loose and I forgot to fix it Fri night. 1/2 way through I got a cramp in my calf- a huge knot. It slowed me way down and I'm sure I would of done much better had that not occurred. This was my first race with the Bumblebee and I'm a nervous nelly when it comes to cornering...and the roads were wet. I really do need to grow a pair.
Transition 2
  • 01m 38s
Comments:

Socks were wet so instead of putting them on I went sans.
Run
  • 31m 51s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

Hey look! Maybe I should run more?
What would you do differently?:

MORE BRICKS PLEASE! I cramped up so bad that my first mile I sorta hobbled. I high fived Twink as she passed me on her return right around mile 1. Damn that girl can RUN!

Thank goodness that BananaToes was on course- I needed the high fives. I was so in pain the first time I ran past that all I could say was "I need more bananas" cause I was cramping so bad from the bike and then the grip. Now that I'm home I reflect that might have been taken the wrong way by our resident pale face but meah, races make us crazy.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around in the rain, got a banana.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The cramp in my left leg during the bike. The grip is a given but I could of pushed so much harder on the bike. I'm very unhappy but that's not something I could of controlled.

Event comments:

I would of liked a water station right out of T2.

I thought " I need more bananas" was a compliment. Little did I know you simply wanted more potassium to alleviate cramping.

Ahh thanks for the Props Aysel. Maybe now that you're seat isn't too high you won't need any bananas, sorry b-toes, you just aren't that special .

Great Job Kate - here's to a great season of fun.

I don't think I would of run as fast had you not finished and came back to cheer me on.  Thank you very much.
