Hey Clydes,

How do we really size a wet suit?  I usually just buy the XXL stuff.  On the sizing charts, this size is usually for guys 6 feet tall and over.  I'm 5'9" on a good day.  Round in the middle, and wider than my friends..

Do any of you fit this shape and have a wetsuit??  (270 lbs)...

dhwebb - 2011-04-26 8:39 PM Check out the Xterra Size Chart

So, looks like every 20 pounds I lose I'll need to get a new wetsuit...

I got the Quintana Roo Superfull suit in an XLS. I too am about 240, and around the 5'9 range. I know how tough it can be. The Xterra's from what I have heard are a good suit and priced better than my Quintana Roo

Just finally got into mine. Just barely fits around the middle, but lots of room on lower legs.

Didn't see my size on Xterra's site. Went to wetsuitgear.com . Got this:

http://wetsuitgear.com/mens-wetsuits-styles/fullsuit-wetsuits/2009-neosport-5-3mm-men-s-sprint-triathlon-fullsuit.html

I'm 6'0", 274 lbs - all in the middle.

That looks like a good suit.

I have the same problem, 5'9 270 all middle.  I got into mine last night (Xterra) real tight like its supposed to be.  I zipped it up by myself, and started pulling and moving.  I ended up folding up the legs about two inches.  I've read all sorts of threads about cutting it, but I don't think I'm going to just yet.  I'll see if I can fold the legs under for my first event..

I wouldn't have any concern about cutting a few inches off the leg.  It will be fine.  Having it folded will make it very difficult to get off.

I am wondering how tight should the suit be, I got a 2 piece suit and have put on the bottoms and it wasn't that difficult to put on, did I get a size too big? I have the DeSoto Speed Tube in a size 5 as I am 5'8'' and 190lbs.  I am trying to get to 180 before my first race so just wondering how I would tell if it is too large?

Thanks

Alexandra

Not sure if it helps, but I'm 6'4" and 270 lbs and the Xterra Vortex3 XXL fits nicely.  I tried it on in the store, and the rep told me the fit was right.  It felt TIGHT, but after swimming in it, I'm quite happy.

My understanding is the the Desoto two pieces are easier to get on then the one piece. I have a friend who uses one and she is usually suited up before I have one leg in my xterra.
