Sunny
Total Time = 1h 42m 25s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = Athena under39
Age Group Rank = 4/6
Pre-race routine:

woke up, 1/2 bagel and coffee. Drove to site while hubby and kid and bike slept.
Event warmup:

walked to swim start. Went in the water, nice and cool. Totally flat.
Swim
  • 24m 9s
  • 880 yards
  • 02m 44s / 100 yards
Comments:

Folks complained of strong current, but for some reason I didn't notice. Stayed on course, only bad thing was the jellyfish attack! Great sighting this time. Relaxed. Got kicked in ribs by a breaststroker. This had to be more than the advertised length.... I can't believe I was so slow! Tom said I was in the first group of orange caps exiting the water, so....
What would you do differently?:

not freak out when a marine type animal attacks me. Chill.
Transition 1
  • 02m 7s
Comments:

seemed like long run. the area was narrow and long. Too long in here. Need to keep them under 2:00 in the future. Move ass!
What would you do differently?:

Move ass!
Bike
  • 35m 58s
  • 11 miles
  • 18.35 mile/hr
Comments:

It's bumpy. Seems flat, but the wind is there and there's several inclines. New seat seems okay but could be better. This has lots of room for improvement. I need to avg faster.
What would you do differently?:

go faster.
Transition 2
  • 02m 18s
Comments:

I had to sit down to take my shoes off, I was getting dizzy bending over. Grabbed gel, no water at start of run. It was freakin' hot except for the off road part through the mud and trees.
What would you do differently?:

take feet out of shoes before dismount. I know I can but I'm just too lazy to.
Run
  • 37m 50s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 12m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

hot, hot, and hot. Should of had water right out of T2. this is where it falls apart. From second to fourth. Out of hardware. ugh.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster. But at least I didn't stop after the last water station.
Post race
Warm down:

walked and ate. Talked to hubby about race. Waited in line for food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

jellyfish and heat. Getting dizzy in T2 and wasting time there.

Event comments:

Race results were not posted if you finished after about 1:30. There was water out on the course, but not right at T2 out. Seemed that the swim was way longer than half a mile. I don't like the tshirts this year. The kids' race was soo fun to watch!
