Subject: Valve Extender Question

Whenever I need to let air out of my tires, I first try to stick a toothpick down the valve extender to the actual valve....usually to no avail. Occasionally I hit it just right and a bit of air seeps out out but then it closes back up.

I end up unscrewing the extender and just pressing the valve itself....works every time.....but makes me nervous that I won't get the extender back on and sealed properly and securely.

Is there a way to release the air with the valve extender still attached, or is this just one of the annoyances of valve extenders?

I use a very small philips head screwdriver.  Basically, something just a little more 'substantial' than a toothpick that fits in there ought to do the trick.

I use Topeak valve extenders and they screw right onto the regular valve and allow the use of the screw closed/open just like the standard valve without teflon tape or having to leave the valve loose.
