toyota hilux...hope to have a shot with bikes in the back.

any idea how to put a bike rack in the back to travel with say 3 or 4 bikes?

Buy these, bolt to a 2 x 4, lay 2 x 4 in truck bed, drive away.

I have three of those in Bed of my Ridgeline (Photo in an earlier post) and then use a hitch rack if I need more capacity. I can carry 7 bikes with no problem.

I recently bought a 2007 Pontiac Vibe (basically a Toyota Matrix dressed as a Pontiac)

car1

car2

The rear seats fold down and there is a surprisingly large amount of room.  I bought some rubber-backed carpet as well as a 2x4 and a rattle can of black and this is what I was able to whip up.  The 2x4 secures to a track in the rear of the seats so its completely removable.  Otherwise the seats fold upright just fine with the carpet and 2x4 in place.  As you can see, I have to remove the seat/seat post and front wheel, but its a lot better having it secured INSIDE the car than exposed on the roof or something (imo). I can't complain, plenty of room for the rest of my gear and 30+ mph

Can you show us (me) more pics of that 2x4 set-up. That's pretty sweet.

(Pardon the partial thread hijack).

awe yeah ...  this is the RNAV (Red Neck Assault Vehicle)

Sweet '72!  Is that another 67-72 right behind it?  I have a 66, 67, and a 72.  Once I get the interior done on the 72 it will be what I take to tri's.

Hopefully this embed will work. I like this rack but not as good as the one on my SUV that the bike sits on. Haven't had it very long, so I don't know if it will scratch the surface or not.

It's a 70 behind it.  I sold it a few months ago.  Also had a 2wd 72 GMC Jimmy.  3 at once was too many.  Down to just the black one now.  It's a garage queen except for race week pretty much.  lol

I rock a honda civic, but with a 4 year old and all my gear I have been able to convince my wife that we need the honda minivan.  I'm so excited I can hardly contain it.......I can't believe that I just typed that.  Embarassed

I just bought a Honda Odyssey last month. No kids but 2 dogs and lots of gear. LOVE it!!!

Very excited about my new TAV- a 2011 VW Jetta SportWagen TDI. Still waiting for the Yakima parts for the roof rack, but this puppy is quick. A nice side benefit is the 35-40mpg average fuel efficiency...

Here is our smart car...

I have a rack for my bike that holds two of these. It's not that aero but it gets the job done.

Best line so far!
