Anyone done  the Festival of Flowers Triathlon?  I know Setup is a top notch company.  Wondering about this race for some who have done it in the past.

I've done the race twice.  Also raced a half put on by Setup at the same location.  Its one of the nicer swims on the circuit in my opinion.  The bike course is also very scenic.  A couple miles of rough road, but all in all its pretty good.  Rolling hills, not flat but nothing really difficult either.  The run is the worst part about this race.  Its an out and back, with a good portion on a long straight road without shade.  And since its out and back, you do it twice.  Very hot run.

All in all, good race.  If not for Eagleman 70.3 on the same day, I'd be back at FoF again this year.

I've done it.  I like it.  It is very likely to be hot.

As Steve said, the swim venue is nice.  I actually look forward to this swim, even though I suck at swimming.  (I think that the Oly swim is a touch long; it is pretty close -- too close? -- to the HIM swim course.)  It will not be wetsuit legal.  It will be hot.  Bike is rolling and nice.  it is shaded mostly, but somehow the heat gets through the shade.  The straight part of the run along the main road is boring and hot, but the other parts are OK -- shaded and hot.

Did I mention that it is hot?

There's a lovely hill at the end -- only 25m long but steep and right in front of the finish line.  I love it.  Once across the finish line you can sit down under the 'water tent'.  Best invention since aero wheels.  The venue is pretty too.

I'll be there this year.  Looking forward to it.

Try not to step in any fire ant hills, OK?  Have fun out there!

I am doing the race for the first time.  I practice the run last Sunday and then swam while my wife watched out for boats (she was on the shore line).

The run is not too bad.

I am going to do the bike ride this weekend.

See you at the race.

How was the bike course?

Had a tough looking boxer dog chase me around mile five so watch out for the dog.  The road on 702 is rough and you feel like you are holding a jackhammer.  The hills are not too bad except for a hill on highway 34 (the hill looked straight up from the view on the bike).  I usually handle hills pretty good but I was gasping after that hill.
