Subject: RE: Thoughts on clipless pedals...what do u think? graceful_dave - 2011-05-25 10:00 AM brucemorgan - 2011-05-24 9:33 AM Sous - 2011-05-23 6:05 PM Seeing as guys not too long ago regularly finished a little 2000+ mile called the TdF (and all others for that matter) with clips and straps, I think you can swing 112 miles. Pro riders with clips and straps clamped the straps down tight, far tighter than any amateur would. Not comparable at all. I agree. The way clips and straps were used was with them so tight you couldn't just slip out of them, you actually had to release the strap. I agree with you and Bruce, in that I would now never ride with clips and straps and have done both in my life so I know the differences. However my point is that the OP asked if they could expect to finish an iron distance ride with clips and straps. My answer was 100% accurate and relevant to the question asked. I would never do it, and I don't think that its the best option for most people, however it is not my place to convince someone that a decision they are contemplating is somehow "wrong." The OP asked a question, and I answered it. |
