Subject: Sprained my ankle, race is in a week So I sprained my left ankle about 6 weeks ago. I have been running on it for about 2 weeks with a brace for support (to ensure I don't re-injure it ) with no problems. This last Saturday, I stepped in a pothole and sprained my right ankle. (boo!!! )
I've been on crutches for the past 3 days, since I can't really limp around on my crappy left ankle without risk of reinjuring it while my right ankle heals.
I am now able to put weight on my right ankle for a short while (maybe 30 minutes ) before it starts aching. It swells a little, and there's still some bruising, but I've been icing, resting, and elevating it while I can.
My sprint triathlon is on Sunday. Do you think it would be unwise to try and walk (if not run ) the run portion of the race? I have two more races this season, an Olympic in July, and a HIM in August. |
