Roll Call! Who's in for Patriot's Half in Williamsburg, VA? This will be my first time doing this particular race - sounds like a nice course!

I'm considering doing Patriot's HIM 3 weeks after I complete Timberman. Not yet sure if this is a good idea or not.

I'm in. This is to be my 3'rd HIM on the way to a full. Was just reviewing the course today and looks to be a non-wetsuit affair as water temp in 2010 was 79F. Fine by me.

Other than that, the course is reported as FLAT, FLAT, FLAT.

Promises to be a great day.

The Half was wetsuit legal last year--barely.

I wonder what the chances are that we are swimming this weekend, considering that the James River is probably going nuts right now.  Anyone have any sightings?

It will stink if the swim gets cancelled again.

From the website:

9/8/11 - Patriots Water Temp = 79F
The water temp may drop with the flood stage hits on Friday day/evening. Currently, water is free of debris, quality check is clean, and current is steady. Should conditions worsen in the water we we hold the races in a duathlon format. The Half will have a 2-mile run on the front and the Sprint will have a 1-mile run on the front.

I didn't see it on FB before, I saw it on the VTS website.  For some reason they post it to their main VTS page and not the race page:  http://www.setupevents.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=events&series=vts

I was also signed up for the Hurricaned-out tri so this is a bit better. :-)

Thank you for posting the update here, this is great news!!  I sure hope we swim and not do the 2 mile run idea. :-)

Anyone know how we get a 2012 thread going for Patriot's Half?

Also - what's the swim like in the river? I've only done lake swims, so I'm curious about swimming in currents.

Thanks.
