Ruh-roh. Weather.com just added a picture of "wind" to Saturday's forecast!

It's the high desert, it's ALWAYS going to be windy, especially in the afternoon. The good news is that it will be south/southwest, so you fight it the most on the descent from Vejo.

HOPEFULLY, its an afternoon wind. Will suck if we have to get into the lake with waves and chop all in our business.

Maybe we'll get lucky and it will stall until Sunday.

Yep. Wind was going this afternoon. Started about 6 miles outside Gunlock with a good tail wind and rode to Veyo and back. Went at about 3:00, had a good wind tunnel up the wall and then headwind on the way back toward Gunlock.

I'll take this over taking it in the face going towards Gunlock.

How was it going up the canyon with those south winds Suzanne? Any gotchas, or just smooth tailwinds the whole way (hopefully)? I've never ridden the course with anything but 'northers'.

Good to see you out on the lake again this morning. I've decided I'll be out there every morning until race day.... get as comfortable as I can with the venue to decrease the nerves on Saturday.

Good luck to all of you participating in the Last St. George Full Ironman.  Very sad for us to lose it.  I won't be competing but will be riding Moto support.  I will be the one in the Hi Viz Yellow Helmet riding a BMW with a cameraman on the bake.  We will try and get some great footage of all you crazy athletes.    I have been a watching this forum topic for the last year and am amazed at the dedication you have to this event.  It's a true inspiration and I hope you all have a great day.  I know I will.  Once again good luck to all of you and welcome to St. George.

Hey Glen! It was just smooth tail wind, no cross winds. I'm always more concerned about the live stock that freely roams the road. They're penned on race day but the days leading up to it give new meaning to 'share the road!'

I do a swim every day since its really takes the edges off!

When we get our wrist bands at registration just show it at Sand Hollow and its free to enter.

I just bought a park pass. At $10 per day, I figured I'd be most of the way to an annual pass by Thursday morning anyway.

Good news on the south wind. Maybe I'll even be rooting for it now!

And... lacofdfireman

I have a GS1200 Adventure myself, so its good to see you guys riding the best, and nice and quiet! You won't be scaring the crap out of us with a V-twin thumper blaring by and blowing out our eardrums (I know, I have one of those too Tongue out).

Ah, good to catch up on the forum and see what you've all been up to. I'm still about 90 miles from St. George taking a stretch break before the final push. I've decided these long drives (about 1,100 miles) are a good metaphor for endurance events. You start out full of enthusiasm and time passes quickly. By half way, it's just thinking when will this ever end? Then when you get to the end, it's all smiles and excitement again. See ya in a little over an hour St. George.

My Mom and I arrived around noon. Our condo is over in Dixie in the Sport Village about 4 miles from the convention center. I went to packet pick up, it was EMPTY! I have never been to a less crowded expo area, which was nice. If you want race gear, better go ASAP as all the normal sizes are selling out. I got my wife a t-shirt but passed on the rest, I have so many old race kits. The stuff is pretty nice and if this is your first race, load up! Went to Alberstons and stocked up on tons of quality food, I brought my own quality wine. just got back from a run and it's time to chill. Going to swim in the morning.

Just noticed that the 'Ford' part of the race is missing from everything....could it be we don't have a car parked in the finish chute? I always thought that was a little odd.

I hadn't even noticed the missing Ford stuff. I didn't realize they weren't a sponsor anymore.

In other news, I sure hope the wind isn't like this Saturday morning. Pretty choppy at Sand Hollow today. Manageable, but it makes the swim more work.

Is there a list of BTers racing and their Bib numbers?

Ford dropped sponsorship this years. No more Ford signs and dancers on the run courses.

Wait... there used to be Ford Dancers???
Dang!!

Lake was way more choppy yesterday morning (I've been out every day this week). I found it kinda fun and challenging though. Takes my mind off just looking at green blur the whole time.

Also found $4 IM tshirts on the 50% off rack at the expo. They should be $12 with the half off, but for some reason these really are only 4 bucks. I picked up a couple...  Laughing

I am doing moto support for this Ironman and rode out to the Lake this morning and saw some of you practicing the swim.  Did look choppy but fun.  On my ride home I saw a guy riding a Scott and decided to pull over and take a photo of him riding by.  All I can say is that dude looked at me and gave me the evil eye like "What are you taking my picture for."  Really?  Is this the attitude of an Ironman.  I hope not..  Good luck to all of you.  We appreciate you coming to out town and hope you will come back for the half next year....  This guy I took the photo of can stay home....

A few of these people take themselves WAAAAY too seriously.

Everyone I've been meeting on the course and at the lake has been super friendly.

Maybe he was just giving you his game face for the photo.

I prefer the Chrissie Wellington approach... take it all with a grin!
