Pre-race routine:

Stayed at Tim and Laura's. Ended up getting to the race site really early, but it was nice not to have any lines anywhere or issues finding space.
Event warmup:

easy ride from the car to the site.

Swim
  • 15m 26s
  • 800 meters
  • 01m 56s / 100 meters
Comments:

Not a bad swim, but seemed a bit long/slow.
Transition 1
  • 01m 35s
Comments:

wore my garmin under my wetsuit and it got stuck on the sleeve as i tried to pull it off. i need to work out a different system for that or better yet, just not wear the garmin in the swim.

i also had slight issues getting socks on. i should practice that. it always causes me trouble.
Bike
  • 43m 7s
  • 15.7 miles
  • 21.85 mile/hr
Comments:

slower than last year, and had a few spots i lost concentration and didn't push all out, but for the most part it was a solid ride.
What would you do differently?:

?
Transition 2
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

good t2.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 20m 2s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 06m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

meh. just happy to be able to run, but not what i expect. surprisingly, my back felt fine, but i had a bad side stitch for the first 2 miles. i can't even remember the last side stitch i had. strange.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

grabbed some food and cheered for other people. it was really nice out and a good day but then we waited around for the awards which took forever and were still wrong. that is always a bit frustrating.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My back issues have been flaring up and as late as Tues. I was pretty sure I wouldn't even be able to do the race. I was happy to be able to race and still do well though.

Good race man, especially if you were dealing with some back issues.  For some reason your AG is 30-34 in the results.  Threw me off when I looked at them because it put me at 3rd instead of 2nd in my AG.  Heal up.
