It's funny how they tried to grab viewers with that ridiculous second episode (everyone acts drunk and Data gets laid by Tasha). Almost as goofy as the giant jellyfish lovers in episode 1.

I grew up on ST. Could not stomache the first season of TNG. As time went on, I liked TNG more than ST. I have a hard time watching a ST episode now. Not because I've seen them all 50 times over, but because they are so 70s hokey. TNG really did become a good show all on it's own. The Federation getting it's butt handed to them by the Borg was awesome.

My number one biggest pet peeve with TNG.... stupid character shows in the holodeck. I mean come on..... the entire Universe to explore... the endless possiblities... and I have to watch Data play Sherlock Holmes or Warf in some stupid Western movie. ERRRRR... I feel the vein presenting itself in my forehead already.

TNG was always my favorite. old school star trek was a little before my time so I had to get hooked on TNG

Going to two techie universities in the 80's, I often engagued in the ST vs TNG conversation. In undergrad, most evenings included watching an episode of star treck. the guys said the "Kirk had rat balls". the signifigance of this was that the rat has very large testicles in relation to their overall body size. Then along came TNG. Yes, the first ones were terrible. But I eventually preferred them.

Picard over Kirk
Spoke over Data
Worf - finally a reason not to kill off the security guys in each episode.

The other debate would be, if you were a character on TNG, who would you be? Is there a quiz out there?
