Comments:

What a fun race! Easy to get to, well organized, great support and fantastic volunteers, also lots of people cheering. I did this race 10+ years ago when it was a couple hundred riders. Now it's 1300+ and I was thinking it would be crowded. After the first couple miles, it wasn't bad at all. I did miss one turn. I think the volunteers and I both fell asleep. The guy drafting off me yelled left, I was thinking what, is there a car passing on the left, then the volunteers stopped chatting and yelled left but it was too late. It took a good 5 minutes to catch the guy drafting off me. Great workout going to LT to catch him.

I didn't eat any doughnuts which take 5 minutes off your time.

It was weird packing for a bike race. Way less gear than a tri which was nice. No transition area setup was nice. Not fretting about the swim was nice. Basically no pre-race funk or jitters.
What would you do differently?:

Start closer to the front. I passed a ton of riders and was only passed by a few. I didn't find many people to draft off of, starting toward the front would have given me more options.
Post race
Warm down:

Road back out on the course to ride in with a friend then visited with friends. Kicked myself for not bringing a cooler with beer.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not finding someone to draft off of. That was fine since just about all of my training is solo.

Event comments:

Really fun venue and great volunteers and fans. Very organized too.
