Swim
Comments: Felt like my usual training swims. Just tried to focus on staying in the zone and keeping pace with people next to me when I could. I know I'm a slow swimmer, but I was disappointed that this was almost 3 minutes slower than recent training times. (Then again, going under the ropes adds time, and that includes a run to transition.) What would you do differently?: Nothing this time around. Looking at lessons in the future. Transition 1
Comments: 5th age group, 77th overall. No issues. Not so worried about jumping on the bike or any of the fancy stuff. Felt woozy right out of the swim but shook it off pretty well. One of the volunteers yelled, "She's breathing! She's smiling!" and I didn't think I was smiling but I did after she said that! What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Didn't realize how not flat the course was. Part of it was a long, gradual incline, which I HATE. Only got passed by three people while I passed 10 at least. Cleavage made a great spot to hold the empty gel packet. Thanked all the police officers for keeping traffic away. What would you do differently?: More hill practice prior, but I think I handled it as well as I could. Lots of people were struggling more than I was. Transition 2
Comments: Took longer because I put on calf sleeves. Sadly, with my shin issues, running without them is not really an option right now. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: It was HOT. Just freaking hot. What would you do differently?: Beyond praying for cooler weather, nothing. I just made myself keep going as fast as I could. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: heat, lack of training on hills Event comments: Very fun race; I highly advise all women to do a women's only tri. It was pretty empowering and for a great cause. The volunteers were super nice. Race was very well organized. I wish they had one more drink station on the run; there was one right at the beginning but I had been drinking on the bike, so I turned it down. There was only one other one in the middle. That would've been all right in cooler weather, but not in 80+ degrees. The food afterwards was fantastic. Frozen yogurt and pickles! Nom! PTs doing stretching were awesome too, and I definitely took advantage. The race shirt and medal were really really cute too. Last updated: 2011-07-04 12:00 AM

Swam 4 easy laps. Lots of stretching due to recent hip/calf issues.
