Tried to do a track workout last night in the ~106 degree heat.  800m repeats are hard enough as it is, but I only made it through 4 full sets before I had to cut back.  I could barely breathe between the heat/humidity.

I'm ready for November...

My swim training is in a 25 yard community/neighborhood outdoor pool.  Water temp is about 90 (maybe more!!).  last week I had to get out between sets so that I could cool off!!  This week...no swimming...too freakin hot!!

the pool at the ymca yesterday was boiling pasta in the pool.  that was a pretty weird sensation to swim in such hot water.

For sure.  Got in the pool at 5:45 yesterday morning and thought it was gross.

Tried to go 2 miles yesterday evening before my pool workout.  I wore my hat, shades and wet frogg tog (looked like an over-greared loser for 2 WHOLE miles Cry).  I couldn't make it past 1.5 miles and that was a struggle.  My skin felt like it was burning.  Yuck!

Bridgeland will be done with what ever I have left in the tank from IMTX.  I have had zero motivation to get out and swim and bike.  I ran some, but the other 2 is no bueno.

I will remember this thread on my Feb 4+ hour rides with ice still on the ground.

I was out the door at 4:30 this morning for a 2 hour ride. I've been trying to be out the door in the mornings at 4:45 for runs and our course swimming is always at 5:30 AM and the water was 90 degrees on Wednesday. I'm ready for some cool temperatures. Oddly enough I was at Glacier National Park threes ago and it was so cold I thought it was going to snow :-/

101 is the low high temperature for the week, that's looking pretty good :-(

I've been running morning, noon, and night... and it's all bad. Morning is the "coolest" but feels really muggy. Running in 100+ at 9pm has actually been the best other than losing 1min/mile pace. Strangely, it feels hottest once I have stopped and my skin is noticeably radiating heat.

I liked to kill myself on Tuesday trying an hour and twenty minute bike workout with sprint repeats in 107 degrees.  I did 10 of the 12, but then started experiencing severe abdominal cramps.  Won't be doing intense workouts in the evening for a while.

That would be an awsome way to bring a desert to a mid afternoon office party.

Been to 288 in the mid afternoon lately?  There are sections where you feel like the lobster.

We are going tomorrow afternoon and while I LOVE OWS I am not really looking forward to how hot the water is going to be.

I will say that I prefer this to cold.  So many years of catching double headers in select ball.  I'm probably in the minority however.

Depends.  Do you mean REAL cold, or Houston cold.

I'd probably rather be here in the summer than some where northernly in the winter.

Either way.  Lived in NH as a young child and here.  I'll take our our summer over either winter, but their summer over it all.

I came back from vacation to this? I wanna go back to the backcountry of Yellowstone....whaaah!Cry

I was walking from my office to my car and I felt like my ears & the side of my face were on fire.......I realized that my long dangly metal earings had heated up so quickly that it was burning me!

My saving grace.....I'm still recovering from a cold, so that's my "get out of training in this horrid heat" card.

Me too! Grew up in Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, Kansas and Missouri. Lived in St. Louis before moving to Houston and I have ZERO desire to live anywhere with a real winter ever again. Ken is from central NY and thankfully feels the same way.

Grew up about an hour out of St. Louis myself.  I remember this white stuff that use to fall, and not from the trees either.

No desire for that kind of winter, but the season known as winter in Houston doesn't bother me.

For the first few years when I was here I sometimes thought.... "when winter gets here.... oh wait, it is  winter"

x2..I hear ya Will!  It's been too freaking hot.  My training has sucked, mainly due to the heat.  It's going to be ugly this weekend at the Bridgeland Sprint.

Hey Keri I think I rode with your husband Ken a couple of weeks ago on Fry Rd.  We chated all the way to logenbaugh.  I u-turned to head back north on Fry and he was going to head to the Y to pick up kids from swim.  He was on his road bike since his tri bike was in the shop.

Cool dude.   Wondering is if you guys ride on Fry much, mayebe group ride someday.   I am always on that road, as much as I hate it, it's quick and easy to get to.
