Comments: i love this ride. i wish they'd block the roads off like this every weekend! every sort of bike you can imagine, including some wild recumbents, loads of tandems, burleys, trail-a-bikes, custom frames, ooooold bikes, etc. big, small, young, old. this is a wonderful event. oh, and free aveda stuff, great organic fruit, bagels, muffins, cookies, etc. Post race
Warm down: walked around a bit. grabbed some watermelon and some bagel bites. danced to a great band. biked back home. What limited your ability to perform faster: this is a leisure ride, not a race. i was on the single speed and going slow, but was still passing tons of people (as was bill, even with the burley). the fun thing about this is that its slow and you get to enjoy the scenery, chat with other folks, etc. Event comments: saying the post-'race' activities are good is an understatement. they have really good live bands at the start and the half-way mark. everything from violin and mandolin to reggae. the only bad thing this year is that we forgot our camera! up at 6:30. oatmeal, coffee, loaded the girls in the burley and headed to the start.
walked around to see if we could see anyone we knew. ran into a few people. had some coffee and fruit and started riding (ride starts at 7:30, but folks just go when they want. all riders have to start by 9:15)
