I've heard from all 3 captains (morning bags, Kohls, and finish line). I managed to read through the gobblygook. bags and finish line said to pick up wristbands and shirts on Sat. morning (or volunteer tent on Sunday morn). Aid station captain said to just find her at the aid station and check in on Sunday. She did NOT mention anything about picking up a wristband or shirt on Saturday. Is this normal?

She also said no "theme", in exchange for energy and excitment, so I guess no donkey nation shirts there?

The catcher letter was the most messed up, but with some careful reading, it was very helpful as to what the duties are going to be and what to expect.

Looks like I'll check in with the catcher captain, aid station (if applicable), and sit in with the bags so I know exactly where to go at O'dark thirty in the morning.

I'm volunteering.  I've heard from my captains (though the emails show up as blank -- I have to "View Source" to see anything.  Weird.)

I'm doing bike check-in Saturday 12:30-3:00, Gear Bags Sunday 7:30-11:00, and Finish Line Catcher Sunday 3:30-8:00.

On Monday I'm doing IMWI 2012 sign-up!

I did get in touch with the Monday registration captain and she didn't know much..just had the parking pass which doesn't do me a lot of good on Monday   What I gather from her e-mail and the aid station captain e-mail is that they are kind of in the dark as well.  The aid station captain said we do not have to attend on Saturday which is great because I can't make it Saturday. For Monday registration I don't know but since I am picking up my volunteer band on Sunday at the volunteer tent I figure Saturday can be skipped.

If anyone who is volunteering needs the parking pass PM me your e-mail and I will send it to youi

If 12 noon, then you'll be a Bike Catcher.
There's about 3 parts to this:
1). One, or two, persons will be setup about 30 yards or so before the bike dismount and will direct the bikers to slow down.  We even directed them to two "lines", either right or left so as to not crash into each other or congest up the dismount area - it helped.
2). Dismount area catcher - You will wear latex gloves (which they supply, for obvious reasons), and be informed on how to properly "catch" the athlete on their bike PROPERLY.  I've witnessed one of the elites/pros fly over the handle bars because it was both the athlete's and the catcher's fault (athlete didn't slow down and catcher didn't do the catch properly).
3). Bike returner - The catcher will run the bike to the returner and will yell out the bib/bike # to the returner.  The catcher will run back to the dismount line area, and the bike returner will run the bike up to the transition area.  Either the returner will pass the bike on to another returner (the bike transition is very big and long) or will return the bike themselves to the proper bike rack location by matching the bib # on the bike to the rack #.

Catchers will be shifted back to a returner, in order to allow other people to have a turn.

Be prepared to work after the first hour - it will get busy!!

Remember to cheer on the athletes!!

For Monday's registration, just be prepared to have this year's volunteer shirt and walk up in front of the line to be let in and tell them that you are volunteering for registration.  You'll probably either help out directing people in the line, or working on the laptop/computer registering athlete's.

The registration Co-chair is waiting for a new Parking Pass, as of yesterday, with the correct information.  Did you get the most recent one to allow parking until 12:30 a.m. or so at the bank?

Yes, I would go Sat. morning to meet the Captain, and make sure that you are on their list, and get the t-shirt.

Yep I have the most recent pass.

So if we volunteer on Monday at registration do we still get a chance to register for next year or does it fill up? before we get a chance to?

Dunno, I would wait to see what the Co-chairs say.  Otherwise, when you finish up with a registrant, do yours immediately afterwards and have the next person approaching you wait until you complete your transaction (takes about 2 minutes, if that, if all is working correctly and how fast your typing skillz are, and the speed of the connection).  VOILA!

Last week I took the last slot for Friday afternoon registration.  I haven't heard anything yet and just plan to show up.

But I'm curious about the parking passes that you are talking about?  Who is eligible for them? And how do I get one?  I don't remember any passes available last year.

Thanks!

The parking passes are for Sunday at the Anchor Bank downtown.  As far as Friday goes, I believe I got some sort of pass at the event from my captain last year so I didn't have to pay to park when I volunteered at registration.  That was for parking at the Monona Terrace - I don't believe it applied to other lots.  If you need one for Sunday,  you can email the registration captain at the following address:
