Has any registered volunteers for this year's IM WI received any information from their volunteer coach?  If so, was an email sent out or is there a website to visit to get further instructions for the upcoming day?

Not yet.
If you are doing registration, be patient since they are looking for a lead person for that position at this time.

Nope...haven't heard anything yet myself.  I think last year I didn't get anything until about a week or two out.

On the other hand, I've heard from two of my three captains. Peeler and Bike Handler, yes. Body Marking, no.

amykmo - 2011-08-15 5:58 PM Just got an email this afternoon from the finish line catcher co captain.

I have gotten three emails from mailto:[email protected], which I can't read, the message is just a bunch of gobbledygook.

Is anyone a run course martial, and have you gotten info regarding the volunteer meeting?

Thanks

The volunteer meeting is on Saturday, September 10th at 8am at the Monona Terrace.  I have received some messed up emails too, but was able to email the captains for a better copy.  Before replying, look in the email for the correct address and then type that in to get a clear email.  Thats how it worked for me!

I am volunteering at an aid station and did hear from my captain.  Apparently aid station volunteers do not have to attend the meeting.

I am also supposed to volunteer at Registration on Monday but have not heard anything further about that

I'm volunteering at a run station and I haven't heard anything from my captain or anyone else for that matter.  With all the online difficulty of volunteer registration this year, you'd think they'd send out an email to confirm things.  Anyway, I am still hoping I get something soon otherwise I will just show up on race day and DEMAND they use me!!!!

1).  The e-mails that were generated from [email protected] with Subject: Ironman Labor Needs
contained the following information:

**************************************
Thank you very much for volunteering for the 2011 Ford Ironman Wisconsin.

The Ironman Wisconsin is also in need of paid Labor positions on September 6 - 12.  Most shifts are from 8:30 - 5:00pm.  You are require to work a minimum of three days.

If you are or someone you know would like additional information please contact Kelly at [email protected].

Thank you again for volunteering.

2). With the issues that are going on, AGAIN, this year with volunteer Captains and such, I HIGHLY suggest sending an e-mail out to John Eisele - [email protected]

I received an e-mail from the Volunteer co-chair of Registration just a day after I sent my e-mail to him.  However, I haven't heard anything yet from the Running Chairperson.

THESE ATHLETES AND THIS VENUE DESERVE BETTER!!!

Thanks for the info.  Definitely kind of crazy.  Ironically last week we sent John an email asking him to confirm whether we were registered for our particular run station.  As of today, he has not confirmed this information so we still feel a bit uncertain about our registration.

I have heard from all three of my stations - Registration, catching and Kohl Center aid station.  I also just checked the volunteer site and I am officially registered for all three of those so it looks good.  If you're not sure, I would look there to confirm a shift.

Rita Kelliher, one of the captains for catchers emailed me and said they spent $20,000 on new software and shouldn't be having these issues.  Don't know what the problem is.

Lisa - I would suggest you contact one of the captains for registration since you haven't heard anything.  Here is who I have:

I have heard from Kohl Center captain, but nothing from the bike marshall captain.  As I recall from year's past, he is kind of a last minute kind of guy.  As Scott said, if I don't hear anything I'm just showing up at my spot.  I have had the same spot for the past 4 years so I know where to go and what to do...I'll just wear last year's t-shirt.

Thanks tho guys!  appreciated.

I haven't heard from body marking yet either.  However, I got those same messed up messages that others have reported.  I assumed they were junk and deleted them.  Hopefully there wasn't anything important buried in the gaboldy-gook.  Thanks for the suggestions on who to contact.

Thank you to all that are volunteering! I know many of you this, already, from doing an IM or a few, but you guys do a heckuva job for all of the racers that are out there on raceday.

For those that are volunteering this year and racing next, I will be sure and pay it forward in 2012.
