Comments:

Head out from T-2 and this run is a 2 loop through the campground and parking lot. I hit the turnaround at the highway and come back up the hill, see Coldfire the other way and I've got about 2:20 on him, so yell "you're gonna get me" and all I get is a smile and his tongue sticking out at me. Uh oh, he really his.... So push up the hill and around the first lap, feeling gassed already. So on lap 2, hit the turnaround and he's narrowed it to 1:20. I know I am slowing down big time cause the second trip up the lot is coming, struggle to the top and do the math in my head that at this pace, he'll get me at the line, get to the top and its about 1 mile mostly downhill to the finish. Look back and can't see him so if he's gonna get me, it's gonna have to hurt both him and me. All I can do is struggle with a 7 pace, keep looking back over the shoulder running scared. I finally see the finish, turn around, still not there, phew. <20 seconds later, he crosses. Coldfire can flat out run, crazy.
Post race
Warm down:

So chilled for a bit, then my daughter went and got her swimsuit on then proceeded to give me and Coldfire a swimming clinic in the lake. Nice to relax and get refreshed in the water after a race. Perfect cooldown.

Event comments:

Always love the SummerSizzler as a laid back, stress free environment that the family can come to. Due to the looped course, the family doesn't get too bored and gets to the see the racers frequently, which is cool
