Subject: RE: Best Places for Swim Training in Sarasotaindianhillsted - 2012-11-15 11:02 AM Heading there on Saturday. Really excited for the trip. As a landlubber whose only OWS experience is in lakes I have to ask the annoying question... Do I have to worry about sharks at all? I don't think I'm really worried about dying but I suppose it's a real possibility that I will see one, right? Just more worried about freaking out than being attacked. I read an article in a magazine about a really experienced OW swimmer whose attitude is "I have as much right to be there as the animals". Maybe that attitude will help me...I'm more worried about swimming along happy as a clam and then having some dark shadow come close. No need to worry about sharks, unless you like swim in fresh chum by yourself just before dawn or at dusk. The earlier post about the water temps being around 80 is a bit optimistic; lower 70's is more like it. Hope you enjoy your week here in Sarasota. Mark |
