Pre-race routine:

Drank a Starbucks Frappuccino to wake me up on my drive to Vicksburg.

Event warmup:

Spent the majority of my time finding a race belt, as I left mine at home. Fortunately a friend lent me his, so I was able to get a swim in before the start.

Comments:

My swim is officially keeping me out of the podium in anything longer than a sprint. I have a whole bunch of different things to work on in this leg.

What would you do differently?:

Practice swimming a lot more.

Transition 1

Considering the jog up the ramp, I'll take this transition.

What would you do differently?:

Flying mount, but for this race I'm not going to penalize myself too much for that.

The bike is my favorite event, and it shows in my splits. Need to get my other two sports to the same level.

What would you do differently?:

I do have a bike upgrade coming soon. That will help an already strong portion of my race.

The run felt tough at first, but got easier as I went along. Had a pretty strong finish to it.

What would you do differently?:

It took me a while to get going. I need to believe that I can go faster earlier in the run.

Stretched a little bit before loading up my car.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm both undertrained in the swim, and I feel I lack general knowledge of how to swim well. I'm in the middle of taking steps to improve that, however.

Event comments:

First race I've been too that served beer at the end! Very nicely done race for the first year it was put on.
