| Swim
Comments: Wave 3, I started in the middle. A little jostling early but nothing bad. Swim felt good, good job sighting and breathing. I drafter a little right away but after the first turn did not find any feet. I'm not swimming as much this year with my short course focus so pleased with my swim. What would you do differently?: nada Transition 1
Comments: No issues in T1, 3rd in AG +8 sec. What would you do differently?: Somewhere after exiting water way I lost my nose plugs. It happens about 75% of my races. Bike
Comments: I road hard on the bike. Perfect conditions, very little breeze, mostly smooth roads. This is a pr bike split by speed for a race and/or time trial. What would you do differently?: nada Transition 2
Comments: Decent T2, no major issues. 4th in AG +9 sec. I did have some troubles getting my Garmin on my wrist. This is a new wrist strap as I haven't found my old one after our Bemidji trip. I don't know if that was a factor or not. What would you do differently?: I need to find my old wrist strap or figure out what is different with my new one. Run
Comments: I was hoping for a 6:50 pace or so based on how I did at Chisago and the fact that I have been able to run more recently. Officially I just got under 7s at 6:59. Not close to the 6:32 I had here in 2009 but still adequate with my knee and run training issues. Post race Warm down: Grabbed a cookie and some water. I had passed Scoot just before mile 2, he picked up his pave on 2nd half of run and finished less than 2 minutes behind me. Found Barb and chatted with a guy with a golden retriever. I went and changed right away and then cleared out of transition. We stayed for wards/door prizes, Scott got a $50 gift certificate at Eric's. What limited your ability to perform faster: Very modest run training and not as much swim training as well. Event comments: There were some wicked fast guys in my AG, top 2 finished 5th and 6th overall and neither was Charlie Roach. I finished 8 sec faster than last time here (2009, missed last year due to knee injury). PR bike speed for any race, so very happy with that. Fine with overall time based on my training and physical limitations. Even with my 6:32 pace from 2009 I would have finished in 4th place in AG. With this time last year I would have 2nd in AG, so it all depends on who shows up as far as podium positions. Good job by race organizers, plenty of volunteers, water stations, good food, etc. Last updated: 2011-08-31 12:00 AM |

We stayed at Scott's as usual on Sat and drove up on Sun. We just missed getting to park in the lot but we were on the road across from the lot so still right by transition. Honey Nut Cheerios at Scott's, gatorade on drive up to Baxter. Banana after we got there and I got set up. Gel right before swim. .
Good warmups for all s/b/r. Some guy went down on his bike pre-race, ambulance came. We saw him after the race, nothing major. My left knee (bad one) was a little sore right when we got there but fine during warmups and race.
